After escaping the sanatorium, you must find the helicopter key to get out. We show you where to find it.

After escaping the sanatorium in Resident Evil Requiem, you run through the garden toward the helipad while carrying Emily in your arms. The helicopter is ready and the pilot is already waiting. But before you can take off, one crucial detail is missing: the key. What initially looks like a short trip into the nearby garden house actually leads you into a hidden research facility beneath the ground. Here you will learn where to search and how to make your way back.

Carrying Emily Through the Garden

First carry Emily through the garden toward the landing area. A sequence starts once you reach the helicopter. The pilot is injured and cannot go to the garden house himself. You therefore take over the task and leave Emily in the helicopter for the time being.

A Garden House or a Hidden Laboratory?

In the entrance area you will find a visitor log on a sideboard. In a small niche nearby there is a storage chest for managing your equipment. Here you can empty your inventory and free up space. In the adjacent VIP room there are several objects you can examine. Many of them serve no further purpose, so you can safely ignore items like the vase, microscope, globe and others.

The important item is the hourglass on the desk. In the inspection view you can remove two screws. Afterwards turn your attention to the wine bottle on the cabinet left of the door. When you inspect the bottle more closely, you will notice that the upper part is slightly misaligned. Rotate the label to the right to open the bottle and take out the double helix model.

Insert this item into the music box in the center of the room. The mechanism activates and the entire room descends into a research laboratory below.

Arrival in the Reception Area

Downstairs you arrive in a classic entrance area with a typewriter for saving, a storage chest for your items and the document Spencer’s Research 2. Since the direct route is blocked, the staircase on the right leads you deeper into the “Extraction and Testing” area.

Extraction and Testing: Preparing for the Escape

This room is more important than it first appears. You can explore the area without being attacked, search the two drawers and inspect several objects. The key detail to remember here is the locations of the fire extinguishers, since you will need them later.

Near the northeastern double door you will find the document Patient 170 Report on a stretcher. The door itself remains locked for now, and a facility map hangs next to it. The northern staircase leads you to the development area. There is nothing important here except an empty container. Much more important is the private laboratory with several monitors. In front of the monitor you will find the helicopter key, which you can pick up. Afterwards activate the computer to open a door.

Escaping the Research Laboratory

The escape sequence may seem hectic at first, but there is no time limit. You can therefore still use the typewriter in the reception area if needed. The elevator does not work, so return once more to “Extraction and Testing”. Now zombies block your path. Use the gas containers on the walls and spray the zombies in the face so they explode. Then move through the northeastern double door that was previously locked.

The Way Back Up

From here the route is clearly defined. Follow the stairs upward and keep to the left. Be aware that individual objects may occasionally slide down the stairs toward you. After a narrow passage you reach the operations room, climb a ladder and return to the garden. Then run to the broken garden house window and go through the door toward the helicopter landing area. A sequence will follow.
