BeamXR Live is now available for Meta Quest headsets, enabling streaming directly from the headset to Twitch and YouTube—no PC and no extra hardware required. The software is free in the Meta Horizon Store.
Developed by a UK-based indie team, BeamXR Live is currently in Early Access. The focus is on seamless headset integration: you can start your stream, read chat, and interact with your community — all directly in VR or Mixed Reality without relying on external devices or mirroring solutions. The entire Quest library is supported, regardless of the specific game.
The app displays Twitch or YouTube live chat as an overlay in the headset, allowing you to respond instantly without leaving the game. Due to technical limitations in the Quest operating system, the microphone setup isn’t ideal yet: before starting the stream, you need to choose whether your mic feeds into the stream or the game. According to the developers, a permanent solution is being worked on in collaboration with Meta.
Pro Version in Development
BeamXR Live is designed as a community-driven project. The developers actively seek feedback, which will directly shape its ongoing development. While advanced features for professional streamers are in the works, there will always be a free version with no restrictions.
For developers, BeamXR offers a separate tool called BeamXR InGame, an SDK that can integrate native recording, streaming, and camera controls directly into games. This tool is independent of BeamXR Live and is aimed at studios that want to better prepare their titles for content creation.
