The CEO of Ascendant Studios sees the massive competition as one of the reasons for the lack of success of Immortals of Aveum and holds out the prospect of a release on the subscription services of Microsoft and Sony.
In an interview, Bret Robbins, CEO of Ascendant Studios, confirms that he is currently negotiating the inclusion of Immortals of Aveum in the Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus subscription services. An exact date has not yet been set, but Robbins is confident that a deal will be reached.
Weak sales due to strong competition
Robbins also discusses the lack of success of the EA Original, citing the busy release calendar as one of the main reasons. Immortals of Aveum was released at the end of August this year and was in direct competition with hits like Baldur’s Gate 3, Armored Core 6 and Starfield. According to Robbins, as a new studio with a fresh IP, it was especially difficult to get noticed. Disappointing sales ultimately led to the layoff of 45 percent of the staff.
