To complete the detonator in Resident Evil Requiem, you’ll need the Relay as the final component. Here’s how to get it.

As you progress in Resident Evil Requiem, you’ll need one final component for the detonator. This part, the Relay, is located inside the Grimstone Building. While the area may seem manageable at first, it quickly turns into a longer section with multiple enemy encounters and a larger fight toward the end. In this guide, we’ll show you where to find the Relay, which paths to take, and how to make your way back to the camp afterward.

Get the Relay in the Grimstone Building

From the Central Camp, take the elevator up and exit through the rooftop hatch. Follow the path, activate the generator, and you’ll reach a zipline that Leon can use. It takes you directly to the opposite ruined building (Willis Tower). Search the area and collect ammo. Along the way, you’ll encounter doors blocked by yellow wooden planks. Destroy them to access additional rooms.

Continue forward until you reach an area with a glass floor. First, deal with the zombies by shooting the glass panels beneath them to make them fall. To proceed upward, destroy the cabinet in the center of the room so the ramp drops down. Before that, shoot the two doors above that are sealed with yellow planks. One contains a zombie, the other ammo.

Once you reach the Grimstone Building, open the gate in the northern section first. In the courtyard, you’ll find several resources, including:

  • Credits
  • Grenades
  • Additional ammo

The Relay itself can be found in a yellow crate in the same area. Pick it up and combine it in your inventory with the Distributor. Depending on the order in which you collected the parts, you now have everything needed to complete the detonator.

Before moving on, it’s worth checking the small building on the left side of the courtyard. Inside, you’ll find a green herb, a supply crate, and a save terminal. The back door is blocked, so you’ll need to leave the way you came. Then follow the bridge to the left. Behind an antenna structure, you’ll enter another building that leads to the rooftop.

Explore the rooftop area

On the rooftop, you’ll first spot a ladder that you can shoot down. Climb up and collect additional ammo and a grenade.

At a lookout point, use the binoculars again. One key objective is the elevator across from you, which you’ll need to reach later. Also check the right side, where multiple zombies are already moving. Taking them out from a distance now will make things easier later.

You’ll also notice a container hanging from a yellow hook. Shoot it down now so you can use it as an elevated position later.

Fight through the building

Now make your way upward via stairs and narrow paths. Zombies will keep appearing, sometimes dropping down from higher levels or mutating.

Also useful:

Nearby, you’ll find a propane tank. Use it to your advantage. When multiple enemies appear, a well-placed shot can quickly clear the area. Wait until several zombies are close to it. Also watch for wooden crates along the way, as they often contain ammo or healing items.

Use the container to your advantage

Higher up, you’ll reach the container you previously shot down. Climb on top of it to gain a better overview. Enemies usually approach from the front or via the stairs, allowing you to react early. Once things calm down in front of you, check behind you.

Inside the container, you’ll also find a green herb and rifle ammo. At the top, Leon will slide down a ramp toward a crane.

Release the bridge and unlock a shortcut

Next to the crane, you’ll find a hand wheel. Turn it to release the bridge. Then go down the nearby stairs. Inside the adjacent building, you can open a door that unlocks a shortcut to the save room. Use it before proceeding. Fight your way through the building again, facing multiple enemies, including mutants and chainsaw zombies. At the top, turn the wheel again to activate the elevator.

Elevator fight in the Grimstone Building

After climbing higher, you’ll finally reach the elevator. Activate it using the side controls. During the ride, multiple zombies will attack on the platform. In this tight space, the axe is especially useful to conserve ammo. Use the shotgun only when multiple enemies get too close. After a short time, the sequence ends with a cutscene.

Escape from the basement

You’ll end up in the basement of the Grimstone Building. There’s no need to fight for long here. Instead, move quickly along the left side until you reach a drainage pipe. Crawl through it until Leon can jump to a gate. Open it to exit outside. From there, head right and follow the path upward to return to the camp.
