Mafia: The Old Country delivers technically stable results on PC. It’s also expected to run smoothly on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 (Pro), although only a few reviews are available so far. In addition to high-quality graphics, you can choose between various modes to prioritize either smooth gameplay or maximum visual fidelity.

Mafia Performance on PC

On PC, Hangar 13’s title really shines on high-end hardware. With GPUs like the RTX 5090 and the “Epic” preset, you can achieve frame rates well above 60 FPS – up to 144 FPS with upscaling disabled. The engine scales well to lower-end systems, but in those cases you should stick to medium settings and use upscaling techniques like DLSS or FSR.

One technical drawback is the switch between cutscenes locked at 30 FPS and smoother gameplay, which can cause brief stutters. But according to the developers, a day-one patch addressed this: you can now decide whether cutscenes run at 30, 60, or an uncapped frame rate.

How Mafia: The Old Country Performs on PS5 and PS5 Pro

On Xbox Series X, Mafia: The Old Country offers two graphics modes. Performance Mode targets 60 FPS at reduced resolution, which is mostly maintained even in action-heavy scenes. Quality Mode delivers higher visual detail and resolution but is limited to 30 FPS. There’s no ray tracing, but lighting and texture quality are well done. Load times are short, saves are quick, and no major technical issues have been reported so far.

On PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro, the game also offers two modes. Standard PS5 achieves a stable 60 FPS in Performance Mode with dynamic upscaling; in Quality Mode, it renders up to native 4K – but only at 30 FPS. The PS5 Pro benefits from extra features like VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), support for 120Hz displays, and higher dynamic resolution.

The frame rate of many cutscenes has also been raised thanks to the launch patch. Overall, the PS5 Pro delivers more stable frame rates and reduced pop-in effects. However, there still aren’t many console performance reviews since the publisher only provided review copies for PC. We’ll keep you updated.

Mafia: The Old Country Performance – Conclusion

On PC, Mafia: The Old Country plays technically solid: smooth frame rates in Performance Mode are standard across many systems, while Quality Mode offers cinematic visuals at the cost of responsiveness. Crashes or serious bugs have so far been rare. Full console performance reviews are still pending.
