In Hell is Us, you’ll meet plenty of side characters whose fates hinge on the timing of your choices. The Acasa Swamps in particular are packed with side quests (“Good Deeds”) that can only be finished within specific windows.

 In this guide, you’ll learn:

  • Which Good Deeds are available in the Acasa Swamps
  • Where to find the items you need
  • Which deadlines you have to meet
  • What consequences your actions have
  • How to claim every reward

What are Good Deeds in Hell is Us, and how do I redeem rewards?

All Good Deeds are side quests tied into the larger story about the Old Vigil. The organization tracks your actions and rewards you with optional scenes, intel, and progress in hidden plotlines. To redeem rewards, you’ll first need to solve the Watcher’s Nest. After that, you’ll meet Gildas Brom, who hands out the rewards for Good Deeds and closed time loops.

Important: Some Good Deeds are time-sensitive and will fail if you miss the window. Try to finish them quickly before pushing too far in the main story. Many characters will die or vanish if you don’t act in time. With a bit of foresight, thorough exploration, and patience, you’ll not only secure rewards—you’ll also shape the fate of Hell is Us’s world.

The Gold Watch

In the trenches, you’ll find a letter on a table and a Gold Watch engraved with “Otis Caddell,” which starts this Good Deed.

Asunder: Grieving Father at the Mass Grave

Talk to the grieving father at the mass grave in Jova as soon as you first enter the area.

Solution: On the square south of the forge in Jova, a soldier is sitting on a patio set. South of him you’ll find a Letter with a drawing. Deliver it to the grieving father before the end of Act 1. Only then can he bury his family with a Palomist ritual.

  • Important: Miss the deadline, and he will bury them without the ritual, failing the Good Deed.

Land of Milk and Honey: Save Judith’s Baby

Climb down the well in Jova’s market square to reach an underground tunnel system. At the very bottom, you’ll hear a baby crying. Follow the sound and talk to the old woman to start the Good Deed. Before you leave, grab the empty baby bottles.

Solution: Travel to the Senedra Forest and visit Ernest Caddell at his farm. He’ll swap the empty bottle for a full one.

  • Important: Bring the filled bottle back to Judith before the Lymbic Forge is completed — so before the end of Act 1. If you miss the deadline, the baby dies. Judith moves away and mourns elsewhere.

Love Thy Neighbour: Save Halie

Speak with Halie in Jova in the house east of the forge with the green awning. To save her, you’ll need an object from her past.

Solution: In the Acasa Swamps, on a hill east of Jova, there’s an old oak where several people were hanged. Beneath it lies a Plushie. Bring the teddy to Thomas Kuhn, the man drowning his sorrows in his house in Jova’s southwest (it’s the house next to the gas station with the white graffiti “Sabinian Family Tree” and “Sabinians dogs we will kill you!”).

In return, you’ll receive the Classroom Photo. His son was in Halie’s class. Bring the photo to Halie before Vaas leaves for the Abbey and Jova’s state changes during Quest #3.

  • Caution: If you’re too late, you can’t save Halie.

Performance of a Lifetime: Save the Violinist

In Jova’s market square, you’ll meet a violinist afraid he’ll lose the soldiers’ favor unless he learns more songs soon.

Solution: Find two music sheets featuring Sabinian classics. One is on the piano on the terrace in Jova. The second is in the Vyssa Hills: head to the weeping willow with the knight statues, follow the path east, and go through the broken fence up the hill. There you’ll find a corpse with a red suitcase behind the rocks. Pick up the Sheet Music – Dreams of Losilus.

  • Important: Make sure to bring the violinist both pages before Jova’s state changes in Quest 3 and Vaas marches to the abbey. If you’re late, the violinist is killed. If he survives, he’ll thank you and later flee Jova.

Where the Heart Is: Zao Ru’s Photo

After Act 1, you’ll find the healed ON soldier Zao Ru at the Jova outpost. Talk to her and she’ll ask you to retrieve a photo of her daughter.

Solution: It’s stored in a fireproof compartment in one of the trucks in the tunnel where you found Victor Gaz. Alongside the photo you’ll also find ON soldiers’ letters and the Order 666 memo. Bring the Photo – Girl to Zao Ru.

Man’s Best Friend: Free the Dog

West of the well in Jova, you’ll spot a brightly lit doghouse with a German Shepherd chained to it. Free the dog to receive a Dog Collar.

Solution: Bring the dog collar to the elderly couple in the refugee camp in the Vyssa Hills. To get there, follow the path to the right of the Serpent Gate at the time loop.

Victor’s Vigil — Open the Old Car

North of Jova is a tunnel guarded by a horde of Hollow Walkers. Clear them out, and you’ll meet Victor Gaz in a storage room. He gives you the key to your father’s house (the one across from the forge in Jova with the blue tire swing). On the porch you’ll find a Car Key that starts this Good Deed.

Solution: The car is parked north of Jova near a ruin. Use the key to open the trunk and take the necklace. Bring it to Victor at the forge.

Stranded ON Peacekeepers

Leave Jova heading south and walk toward the monolith. Around the back you’ll find an entrance and two ON soldiers. Talk to Typhon Guile, who needs metformin pills. His colleague Roho Katunki asks for a radio.

Radio: Travel to the OMSIF depot in Lethe (the propaganda building). The entrance is locked. Check the nearby parking garage for the keycard. Use it to enter the depot and grab the radio. Bring it back to Tyra.

Pills: After completing the Talju quest, you’ll gain access to the infirmary in Talju. That’s where you’ll find the medication.

  • Heads-up: Save both of them before collecting the third keystone. If you wait too long, they die.
