To collect plenty of resources in Heartopia, you should expand your inventory early on. Here’s how it works.
In Heartopia, you are constantly gathering resources like fish, insects, fruit, and ores, and before you know it, your inventory is full. To make sure your relaxed gameplay is not slowed down by a lack of space, you should upgrade your backpack as early as possible. This short guide shows you how it works and what you should keep in mind.
How can I expand my inventory in Heartopia?
If your inventory is reaching its limit, visit Ka Ching on the outskirts of town. She allows you to permanently expand your backpack.
The first upgrade is free. After that, you will need to invest Fulfillment Stars:
- For 5 Fulfillment Stars, you get a small expansion
- For 25 Fulfillment Stars, you get a large expansion
It is also worth checking in with Ka Ching regularly, as her general store occasionally offers discounts. This way, you can often get up to 60 percent off inventory expansions.

How do I get Fulfillment Stars?
You earn Fulfillment Stars by completing resident requests. These are shown directly next to the mini map in the top left corner. If you complete these tasks regularly, you will quickly collect enough stars for further inventory upgrades.
Use resources wisely and save space
More space is helpful, but good resource management is just as important. Store excess materials in your storage regularly or process them further.
You can cook meals from fish, fruit, and other ingredients that grant you additional bonuses. Multiple stacks of fruit can be turned into jam at Massimo’s place, which you can then sell for significantly more money. Raw fruit, on the other hand, only earns you a few coins.
