In Heartopia, almost everything revolves around so-called hobbies. They are the core of the game, providing money, progression, and new opportunities, and above all plenty of cozy vibes. Some hobbies unlock automatically during the tutorial, while others require patience, a higher developer level, and the right decision at the right time.
- Important upfront: Every hobby requires a Hobby Expansion Ticket to be unlocked. These tickets are limited, so choose carefully how you spend them.
Fishing in Heartopia
Fishing is one of the first activities you learn in Heartopia and is perfect for gathering resources at a relaxed pace. You cast your line, wait for the right moment, and gradually build up your fish collection. The better you get, the fewer fish you lose and the more valuable your catches become.

Catching Insects
Catching insects is perfect for players who enjoy spending time outdoors. You look for critters and have to strike at just the right moment. Different insects appear at different times of day and in specific locations.

- Optional decision, not unlocked automatically
Gardening for Ingredients
When gardening, you grow plants, water them regularly, and harvest your crops after a certain amount of time. The hobby is simple but extremely important, as many ingredients are later used for cooking. Higher levels unlock new plants and better yields.

How to Observe Birds
This hobby is noticeably calmer than catching insects. Instead of fast reactions, it is all about discovering birds, observing them, and identifying them correctly. Perfect if you are looking for a relaxed hobby without time pressure.

- Shares the ticket window with other level 6 hobbies
- Focus on collection rather than reflexes
How to Become a Master Chef
Cooking allows you to turn gathered ingredients into proper dishes. These not only earn you money, but often provide bonuses as well. With each upgrade, recipes become more complex and more rewarding.

- Strong synergy with gardening and fishing

Time for Cat Care
Cat care finally lets you adopt a pet of your own, and yes, they are just as cute as you hope. You take care of their needs, play with your cat, and build a bond. This hobby is more mid to endgame content, though.

- Pets are purchased at the pet shop
- Requires an additional Hobby Expansion Ticket
- Required to unlock dog care
Prefer Dog Care in Heartopia?
Dog care works similarly to cat care, but comes with its own routines and interactions. Important: you must first unlock cat care before you are allowed to unlock dogs.

- Cat care must be unlocked first
- Requires its own Hobby Expansion Ticket
- More responsibility, but also greater rewards
Heartopia: Upgrading Hobbies
Unlocking a hobby is only the beginning. Each hobby has multiple levels that you progress through by actively using it and expanding your collections. Every upgrade requires a Hobby Upgrade Ticket, which are awarded much more frequently than Expansion Tickets.
