The “From One Ghost to Another” trophy in Ghost of Yotei is tied to a mythical quest that requires you to find the legendary Storm Blade and prove yourself worthy. Below, you’ll find a step-by-step guide to completing this quest and earning this rare achievement.
Requirements: Unlock the Area
Before starting the quest, you need to unlock access to the Oshima Coast. This region becomes available automatically after your second battle with the Yotei Six. Only then will the quest giver appear and allow you to begin the journey.
Quest Start “From One Ghost to Another”: The Story of Ugetsu
Find the storyteller Ugetsu at the Forgotten Shrine, located southwest of the Oshima Coast. You’ll recognize the spot by a small shrine with several stairways – Ugetsu sits right at the bottom. Talk to him, and he’ll tell you about the mythical blade of the Storm Warrior. This automatically starts the quest “The Storm Blade,” which leads to the trophy.
Climb to the Fox Shrine
Ugetsu tells you to follow the path upward. Cut your way through the bamboo thickets with your katana until you reach a small Fox Shrine. Here, bow to summon the gray fox.
Follow the fox up the mountain. It will disappear after a short time, but the path remains clear: climb over the rocks and use the fallen tree as a bridge to reach higher ground.
The Cave of the Storm Blade
Soon you’ll reach an abandoned house. Climb the ladder inside to continue scaling the cliffside. Your goal is the small cave above. In its deepest chamber, you’ll find the Storm Blade – the legendary weapon of the hero.
But beware: as soon as you pick it up, several Nine-Tails appear to claim the treasure for themselves.
Battle Against the Nine-Tails
Two Nine-Tails will attack immediately. These foes have good stamina and fast strikes, but can be defeated with precise timing. After they fall, a third one flees through the cave, taking the Storm Blade with him.
Chase him by following the path ahead. Use landmarks like the abandoned house you passed earlier for orientation. Shortly afterward, the gray fox reappears and guides you across a field into a new area. You can enter directly through the gate near the abandoned house on the white field.
The Grave of the Storm Warrior
The path ends at the grave of the Storm Warrior. Here awaits the final challenge: a larger group of Nine-Tails, led by the thief who stole your Storm Blade.
While the lesser enemies can be taken down quickly with your katana, be cautious with the leader – his attacks are powerful and fast. Keep your distance, use dodge rolls, and counter at the right moment. He wields a sword himself, so prepare for an even duel.
Reward: The Storm Blade and New Ability
Once you’ve defeated the final Nine-Tails, you’ll recover the Storm Blade. At the same time, you’ll unlock a new ability: the “Dance of Wrath.” This also completes the objective “Acquire the blade of legendary hero” and unlocks the “From One Ghost to Another” trophy.
