Heartopia looks relaxed and easy to grasp at first glance. But as soon as you start crafting furniture, upgrading houses or unlocking new areas, it quickly becomes clear: resources are the true heart of the game. If you do not know where things grow, drop, spawn or only appear at certain times, you will waste a lot of time. This guide explains all important resources in Heartopia, where to find them and why some materials are much trickier to obtain than others.

How the resource system works in Heartopia

Basically, Heartopia divides materials into several categories. There are very common basic resources, regional materials, rare special resources and a few event-based or daily-spawning items. Not everything is available at all times. Some resources are tied to specific areas, others change location daily or only appear during special events. So if you feel like a material never shows up, it is almost always due to one of these factors.

Basic resources for getting started

These materials accompany you from the very beginning and form the foundation for almost all early building and crafting recipes.

  • You collect branches by harvesting bushes. They grow almost everywhere in Heartopia and are hard to miss. Wood is obtained by chopping down regular trees, no matter the area. Both are constantly needed, especially for furniture and simple constructions.
  • Stone and ore are mainly found near your starting plot. Rock deposits can be mined and often yield both stone and ore. These resources are deliberately available early so you can make progress without long journeys.

Types of wood, why not every tree is the same

Once you move beyond simple furniture, regular wood is no longer enough. Heartopia features several types of wood, each tied to specific environments.

  • High-quality wood is obtained much more frequently from palm trees. These mainly grow near the coast and on beaches. If you are specifically looking for it, it is worth checking these areas regularly.
  • Rare wood comes from huge trees that are mostly found in suburban areas. The most productive spots are the areas between certain building plots, where these massive trees spawn repeatedly.
  • A special case is the wood from the roaming oak. This is not a normal tree, but an NPC-like oak that changes its location every day. One day it stands near a house plot, the next day somewhere completely different. If you need this wood, you should explore Heartopia carefully on a daily basis.
  • Bamboo forms its own category and grows exclusively in the forest area. It is flexible, versatile and essential for certain building plans.

Mining and special minerals

In addition to stone and ore, there are minerals that are much rarer and require special conditions.

  • Fluorite comes from a special mine that does not stay in one fixed location. This mine appears at different positions each day and can be recognized by glowing blue crystal formations. If you need fluorite or the especially valuable flawless variant, you should make it a habit to look for this mine every day.
  • Starfall shards only appear during meteor shower events. During these events, special ore deposits spawn, which you must mine to obtain this resource. Outside of the event, the material is not available.

Fruits and plants for crafting and decoration

Various fruit trees grow near your starting area. Apples, mandarins, blueberries and raspberries can be obtained by harvesting or chopping down these trees. They are not only used for decorations, but also appear in certain recipes.

These resources may seem basic, but they are often underestimated later on when suddenly larger quantities are required.

Mushrooms and rare natural finds

Mushrooms in Heartopia are strongly tied to specific regions. Each type only grows in certain areas, making targeted gathering especially important.

  • Shiitake mushrooms can be found in the fishing village, while button mushrooms tend to grow on flower fields. Porcini variants appear in the forest, oyster mushrooms on Onsen Mountain. In addition, there are so-called bizarre variants that look different and are much rarer, but are collected in the same way.
  • Black truffles are among the most hidden resources. You do not spot them directly, but need to look for small dirt mounds on the forest island and dig them up. Matsutake mushrooms, on the other hand, are hidden beneath trees in the pine forest around the spiritual oak.

Processed materials and crafting components

Besides raw resources, there are many processed materials such as nails, fabrics, glass, clay, paint or varnish. You usually craft these from gathered resources or obtain them via crafting stations. Even though they are not found directly in the world, they depend entirely on your gathering strategy. Anyone who avoids using up raw materials carelessly early on will save themselves a lot of grinding later.

Tips for efficient gathering

Plan your routes. If you know which area offers which resources, you can collect multiple materials in a single run. Keep an eye out daily for roaming spawns like the fluorite mine or the roaming oak. And do not miss any events, some resources are simply not available otherwise.
