In Code Vein 2, you will sooner or later encounter many different characters. We have summarized all figures and the roles they play in the game.
With Code Vein 2, Bandai Namco expands the dark action RPG universe with a wide range of new, deeply developed characters. Once again, the fragile balance between humans and Revenants takes center stage, but this time the story is told in a far more complex way through time travel, past guilt, and conflicts spanning generations. Each character not only fulfills a gameplay function but also actively contributes to the world, its factions, and its tragic history.
The Protagonist: A Hunter Between Present and Past
The playable protagonist is a Revenant hunter whose task is to save humanity from total extinction. To achieve this goal, he or she travels roughly 100 years into the past. Unlike many fixed story characters, the protagonist is deliberately left open, allowing players to fully determine appearance, voice, and identity. From a narrative perspective, the protagonist serves as the connecting element between past and present and stands at the center of all temporal interventions that can change the course of the world.

Lou MagMell: The Key to Time
Lou is one of the most important characters in Code Vein 2 and serves as the emotional counterpart to the protagonist. She is a young Revenant who revived the fallen hunter by giving her own heart. Lou possesses the extraordinary ability to follow the so called Pathos of other people and thereby jump into the past. This power makes her the driving force of the story, as without her the journey through time and the hope of salvation would not be possible.

Lavinia Voda: Leader of MagMell
Lavinia Voda is the charismatic leader of the organization MagMell, which is dedicated to protecting humanity. As a descendant of the Progenitor who once prevented the collapse of the world, she carries immense responsibility. She is the one who entrusts the protagonist and Lou with their mission and sends them into the past. Lavinia embodies strategic foresight, willingness to sacrifice, and an unwavering belief that even a crumbling world can still be saved.

Iris MagMell: Technology, Research, and Support
Iris is also a member of MagMell and operates in the background as the group’s technical and scientific backbone. Under Lavinia’s command, she supports the protagonist and Lou with research, equipment, and the development of new technologies to enhance vampiric abilities. She represents the organization’s rational, research driven approach and combines progress with moral responsibility.
Valentin Voda: Judge and Mage
Valentin Voda is the heir to House Voda, a particularly powerful bloodline that traces directly back to the Progenitor. In the past, he led MagMell as a magical research institute and devoted himself intensely to ancient Forma structures. In addition, he serves as a kind of judge who mediates between humans and Revenants.

Noah G. MagMell: A Protector Driven by Loyalty
Noah is a former human who became a Revenant around 100 years ago. He once served at MagMell’s research institute and is closely connected to Valentin Voda. Out of deep loyalty and friendship, Noah takes on the role of Valentin’s personal protector and faces even the most dangerous missions without hesitation. His character stands for determination, a strong sense of duty, and quiet self sacrifice.
Josée Anjou: The Tragic Queen of the Sunken City
Josée Anjou rules over the sunken city and is one of the most emotionally complex characters in Code Vein 2. Although she created safe havens for the last survivors, she is haunted by guilt for failing to prevent a devastating Resurgence outbreak in the past. This history drives her to fight relentlessly on the front lines and protect the lives of others, even at the cost of her own peace of mind.

Zenon Gryfgote: A Genius in Exile
Zenon Gryfgote is a brilliant yet dangerous researcher. His discoveries form the foundation of modern Revenant society. However, his curiosity knew no limits, leading him to pursue forbidden experiments. For these transgressions, he was exiled and sentenced to imprisonment in the Insula Carcere for more than ten thousand years. Zenon embodies the narrow line between scientific progress and destructive hubris.

Holly Asturias: A Healer with a Cursed Legacy
Holly Asturias works as a Revenant doctor in a remote forest clinic. She belongs to the Luxuria bloodline, whose healing powers are as powerful as they are cursed. Holly uses her abilities to research the Resurgence and help Revenants disfigured by it. Her story combines medical hope with the personal cost such powers demand.

Lycoris: A Mystery from the Thicket
Lycoris is a mysterious young woman whom Lou and the protagonist encounter in the Undead Forest of the present. She appears to know a surprising amount about Holly Asturias and past events. Her true motives remain hidden for a long time, making her one of the most enigmatic figures in the game.
Lyle McLeish: The Lone Swordmaster
Lyle McLeish is considered an exceptionally talented swordsman and serves as the ace of the organization The Dawn Chorus. He fights with an extremely risky and ruthless style and usually operates alone. Even his allies fear his uncompromising approach to combat, which makes him both highly effective and self destructive.
Jadwiga: A Merchant Between Worlds
Jadwiga is a Revenant who serves as a merchant within MagMell. In addition to buying and selling items, she can upgrade weapons and so called Jails. What stands out is her ability to appear at different locations almost instantly, as if she could transcend space and time itself.
The Character Creation Demo: Preparing for the Adventure
With the Character Creation Demo, released on January 23, 2026, Bandai Namco allows an early look at one of the core elements of Code Vein 2, character creation. The demo focuses entirely on creating, customizing, and saving your own Revenants and deliberately excludes combat or story content.
Most importantly, all characters created in the demo can be transferred directly into the full version. The time invested is not lost but serves as targeted preparation for the actual adventure. In the finished game, these characters can later be adjusted again, for example via the changing area in MagMell.
