With Battlefield 6, EA opens a new chapter for the shooter series. We’ve compiled everything included across the three phases of Season 1.
EA’s Battlefield 6 follows a classic live-service model with monthly content updates. Season 1 begins less than three weeks after launch and delivers three major content drops by year’s end. Expect new multiplayer modes, maps for every scale of battle, vehicles, weapons, events, and gameplay changes.
When does Season 1 of Battlefield 6 start?
Season 1 starts on October 28, 2025, on all platforms. The three phases arrive at three-week intervals:
- Rogue Ops – October 28, 2025
- California Resistance – November 18, 2025
- Winter Offensive – December 9, 2025
An official end date for Season 1 hasn’t been announced. Based on the current cadence, Season 2 will likely begin in mid-January 2026 at the earliest.
Phase 1 – Rogue Ops: New map, 4v4 mode & weapons
Season 1 opens with Rogue Ops, the biggest update so far. The content centers on a sudden attack by Pax Armata double agents against NATO installations.
Blackwell Fields – New map for all battle sizes
This new map is set on a newly reactivated U.S. Air Force base in California’s badlands. Blackwell Fields supports every battle size and features both ground and air vehicles. Fans of large-scale modes like Breakthrough or Conquest will feel right at home.
Strikepoint – 4v4 mode with permadeath
Strikepoint is a tactical multiplayer mode for two four-player squads. Across multiple rounds, you fight to capture a central objective. Each player gets only one life per round—rewarding slow, methodical play.
New weapons and gear
- SOR-300C: Compact carbine with a slower rate of fire but high stopping power thanks to .300 Blackout rounds.
- Mini Fix: Lightweight bolt-action rifle for mobile recon players—evokes the Scout Elite from earlier entries.
- GGH-22: High-capacity pistol with an extremely fast rate of fire but lower per-shot damage.
- Rail Cover & LPVO: Two new attachments—a handguard and a variable-power optic type for various rifles and LMGs.
- APC Traverser Mark 2: New ground vehicle with four seats—driver, roof gunner, and two side gunners.
Phase 2 – California Resistance: New map, 8v8 mode & Battle Pickups
On November 18, the second update lands, focusing on a guerrilla uprising in Southern California. Pax Armata activates sleeper agents in the Eastwood suburbs.
Eastwood – New suburban map
Set in an affluent U.S. suburb with a golf course and villas, the map supports all battle sizes plus land vehicles and helicopters. Large homes and open spaces create plenty of room for tactical approaches.
Sabotage – 8v8 attack & defend mode
In Sabotage, two teams face off over two rounds—one attacking, one defending. The goal is to destroy (or protect) as many demolition targets as possible within the time limit.
Battle Pickups – Return of powerful weapons
Battle Pickups, a popular feature from earlier entries, make a comeback. High-tech, limited-ammo weapons scattered around the map can swing a fight—if you can find them. A portable minigun appears to be the first of these pickups.
New weapons and attachments
- DB-12: Double-barrel pump-action shotgun with two separate magazine tubes—one trigger per barrel before you reload.
- M327 Trait: Revolver with heavy single-shot damage but a slow rate of fire; particularly strong up close.
- Slim Handstop: Ergonomic foregrip for better control and faster ADS.
Phase 3 – Winter Offensive: Icy event & map update
On December 9, Season 1 concludes with a winter event centered on the Empire State map. It’s a smaller phase, but it delivers fresh atmosphere and new gameplay elements.
Ice Lock Empire State – Temporary map update
The Empire State map gets a visual overhaul: snow and ice blanket Brooklyn. The layout remains the same, but the wintry backdrop changes visibility and movement across the battlefield.
Ice Lock event – “Freeze” gameplay modifier
The “Ice Lock” event introduces a new gameplay mechanic: “Freeze” temporarily alters select modes. Exact details haven’t been shared yet, but expect temperature-based effects like cold damage or movement penalties.
Ice Climbing Axe – New melee weapon
There’s also a new melee tool: the Ice Climbing Axe. Whether for silent takedowns or breaking brittle surfaces, this axe expands the existing melee lineup alongside the knife and sledgehammer.
