Ubisoft has announced a substantial update for Anno 117: Pax Romana, set to arrive in mid-December across all platforms. Patch 1.3 is designed to squash a wide range of bugs, boost overall performance, and restore crossplay support for all consoles.

As the development team explained on the official Union website, the upcoming update for Anno 117: Pax Romana focuses heavily on technical fixes. Several crash causes are being addressed, along with issues affecting the multiplayer experience. These include desyncs and connection errors that could occur when loading co-op matches. The patch is also expected to improve performance when large numbers of units are present or when specific AI events trigger. One example: when enemy factions initiated certain festivals, the game could slow to a crawl — a problem the team says is now resolved.

Crossplay returns to Xbox

A number of smaller but impactful gameplay bugs have also been fixed. NPC Caeso will now appear correctly on the map, and an issue that caused needs like beer or garum to be consumed without the required research being completed has been corrected, according to the developers. Player logos should also once again display properly on ship sails. Full patch notes are expected early next week.

A hotfix released in late November already tackled some initial multiplayer problems, re-enabling crossplay between PC and PlayStation 5. For Xbox Series X/S, those fixes will roll out together with Patch 1.3 — restoring cross-platform play there as well.

Livestreams are also on the schedule. On December 3, a German-language special will feature several developers, including Creative Director Manuel and Technical Director Thomas. One week later, on December 10, an English-language stream will dive into the game’s music and sound design. Both streams start at 5 p.m. on the official Twitch channel.
