The Story
First Light tells a brand-new origin story for James Bond. It’s a standalone reinterpretation of the character, developed in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios.
At just 26 years old, this is the youngest Bond ever portrayed. He isn’t a fully fledged 007 agent yet, but a sharp-instincted operative who can be reckless at times and still has to learn when to fight, bluff, or disappear into the shadows.

The story begins with Bond serving in the Royal Navy. After a bold act of defiance, he’s recruited into MI6’s most demanding training program. Through this grueling process—combined with his natural instincts, intelligence, and heart—he evolves into a true spy.
In First Light, Bond faces off against the more experienced Agent 009, described as a “master manipulator.” The game’s Steam page also reveals that after a mission goes wrong, Bond must stop a rogue agent, uncover a conspiracy alongside his reluctant mentor Greenway, and prevent a looming coup at the heart of the nation.
007 First Light: Gameplay and Features
While IO Interactive is best known for its stealth-driven Hitman series, the first trailer suggests that First Light leans more toward a traditional action-adventure, with a linear structure and strong narrative focus.
The gameplay blends combat, driving sequences, stealth sections, and the use of classic 007 gadgets. Locations will vary widely, ranging from snow-covered mountains to sun-drenched beaches.
You’ll also encounter familiar faces from the Bond universe, including M, Q, and Moneypenny, alongside new characters such as Greenway, Bond’s mentor, who introduces him to the ways of MI6.
The game runs on IO Interactive’s proprietary Glacier Engine, which previously powered the Hitman titles.
The Aston Martin Valhalla in 007 First Light
In 007 First Light, IO Interactive’s upcoming action-adventure, James Bond will drive the Aston Martin Valhalla for the first time. The hybrid supercar combines cutting-edge Formula 1 technology with the brand’s signature elegance. As the game portrays a young Bond at the dawn of his career, it places a strong emphasis on iconic elements of the franchise—none more so than Bond’s legendary vehicles. The Valhalla takes center stage, reflecting Bond’s style, confidence, and appetite for risk.
The real-world Valhalla is Aston Martin’s first mid-engine plug-in hybrid supercar, limited to just 999 units worldwide and inspired by the Valkyrie. In the game, Bond’s version also features classic “Q modifications”—high-tech gadgets and weapon upgrades hinted at in the accompanying images.
