In Life is Strange: Reunion, a story segment as Chloe takes you into the basement of the Fremont House (Abraxas building). There, you are searching for the so-called Hall of Secrets and encounter a symbol puzzle, a hidden passage, and a decision with major consequences. Here, we’ll walk you through how to open the hidden passage, which items matter, and what impact your choice with the masked man has.
Basement of the Fremont House: Solving the symbol puzzle
After Chloe receives the mask from Max, you head into the basement of the Fremont House. Your goal is to find the Hall of Secrets. The first interactive element is a letter next to the orange curtains on the wall. Read it first, as you cannot do anything else here yet.
Then go to the fireplace and pull the candle holder on the wall. Even though nothing visually changes, this unlocks a new interaction. Return to the letter and move it. Chloe removes the framed letter and discovers a silver panel with symbols behind it.
The panel requires a matching object. Turn left toward the white door. There is a green tile hanging there that seems to fit, but it breaks when you try to remove it. The correct solution can be found on the wooden shelf on the opposite side: take the coaster with the matching symbol and insert it into the silver panel. This opens a hidden passage in the wall.
Investigate the secret room and secure evidence
Behind the hidden passage, you enter a smaller room filled with scrolls and stored items. Your task now is to search for clues. Go to the shelf on the right and pick up the box placed there.
Rotate the box in your inventory to open it. Inside, you will find several photos. Chloe keeps one of them, indicating it will be important later. After that, you need to return to Max. Once you leave the room, a short cutscene plays.
Masked intruder: Your choice in the basement
While you are still in the secret room, you hear footsteps. A masked man enters the basement. Chloe hides behind a curtain while the intruder investigates the opened secret room and uses a hammer to break bricks out of the wall. Shortly after, Reggie also enters the basement. The masked man returns, and you must decide how Chloe reacts.
Distract
Chloe uses her phone to connect to the building’s speakers. She plays a police siren, causing the masked man to panic and flee. Reggie also leaves the basement, unsettled. This option avoids direct confrontation and ensures no additional physical traces are left behind.
Attack
Alternatively, you can attack the man directly. Chloe knocks him to the ground, causing him to drop a fragment of a map. He still manages to escape afterward. Reggie reacts in shock and appears frightened. He believes Chloe is the “innermost secret” and flees as well.
After the incident, you can re-enter the secret room. Examine the damaged masonry to notice additional details.
