Pearl Abyss has released Patch 1.00.03 for Crimson Desert, addressing several key complaints raised during the first few days after launch.

The update introduces a new storage system, additional fast-travel points, revamped controls, as well as numerous balance tweaks and bug fixes in Crimson Desert. With these changes, Pearl Abyss is responding directly to feedback from testers and players who were asking for more convenience.

Private Storage and More Fast Travel Points

The most noticeable addition is a new storage option: According to Pearl Abyss, you now have access to a “Private Storage” where you can stash items from your inventory. The chest can be found in the temporary shelter in Hernand as well as at the camp on Howling Hill.

Additional so-called Abyss Nexuses have also been placed across the continent of Pywel: These serve as teleportation points, making fast travel significantly more convenient.

Keyboard and mouse players get new shortcuts: Press I to open your inventory, K for skills, J for the journal, and M for the map. Pearl Abyss has also added new default bindings for blocking/aiming and dodging on mouse side buttons.

Quality-of-Life Improvements for Gathering and Learning

Further changes focus on resource management: Trees now require fewer hits, and you no longer need to aim before chopping them down. Ore veins and collectibles become visible automatically as you approach—standard ores at eight meters, tools at two meters. Campfires, special cooking stations, and grindstones are also detected in the same way.

Pearl Abyss has also streamlined how you learn skills: Observing a technique once is now enough to unlock it. The “Force Palm” ability becomes available earlier, while stamina consumption for blocking and “Nature’s Grasp” has been reduced.

Bismuth ore now behaves differently: As you approach, petrification triggers by default. However, mining it no longer requires lightning damage—you can now use standard tools like a pickaxe.

Combat and Bosses Rebalanced, Minigames Made Easier

The developers have also adjusted overall difficulty: Certain enemies and bosses now have less health and deal less damage. Ambush frequency on the way to the Reed Devil boss fight (guide) has been reduced, and Kearush’s attack patterns have been tweaked. Successfully parrying now fills bosses’ stun gauges faster.

Several minigames—including arm wrestling, shooting contests, and archery—have been simplified, and destroying buildings in enemy fortresses now triggers clearly defined effects. Infirmaries prevent wounded enemies from returning, camps reduce enemies’ maximum health by ten percent, and barracks lower their attack value by five points.

The in-game economy has also been adjusted: Healing items from merchant Carl at the Howling Hill camp now cost just one silver instead of ten. Food restores more health, and new dishes have been added to the tavern in Hernand.

Technical Improvements and Performance

Patch 1.00.03 also fixes numerous bugs, including issues with voice lines, quest progression, boss behavior, and UI displays. Menu responsiveness and input handling have been improved, according to Pearl Abyss. On PlayStation 5 and Xbox, a new 120Hz output option is now available.

Several crashes and visual glitches on PC, consoles, and Mac have been resolved. These include incorrect graphics settings, unrecognized GPUs, and problems with upscaling technologies like FSR and DLSS. On Xbox, a bug preventing offline play has also been fixed.
