The modding community never waits long when it comes to Resident Evil Requiem. Just a few days after release, the first extensive mods are already appearing that change the visuals, tweak gameplay mechanics or simply create completely absurd moments. One mod in particular is currently getting a lot of attention: it simply removes Leon’s shirt. We show you the most interesting Resident Evil Requiem mods and also explain how to install them.

These tools are required for mods

Before installing mods, you first need to set up two essential tools. They form the technical foundation for most modifications. The most important tool is REFramework. It expands the RE Engine with additional features and is required by many mods. Without this framework, numerous modifications will not work at all.

After installing it, you must activate two options in the REFramework in-game menu:

  • PAK Directory Loading
  • LooseFileLoader

Afterwards restart the game once so the changes take effect. The second important tool is Fluffy Mod Manager 5000. With this program you can conveniently enable or disable mods without having to move files manually. Larger character mods or texture packs are usually installed through the Fluffy Manager.

Want Leon half-naked? Here’s how!

One mod is currently at the center of the community: Shirtless Leon With Physics. This is not just a simple texture change. The mod completely replaces Leon’s model with a shirtless version and adds physics simulation for his movements. As a result, the mod feels much more elaborate than earlier fan creations.

The mod was released in early March and reached thousands of downloads within just a few days. According to Nexus statistics, downloads are already in the five-digit range.

More horror: Xenomorph mod brings Alien into the game

If you want to make Resident Evil Requiem even scarier, you should take a look at the Xenomorph mod. It replaces a major enemy type with the Alien creature from the Alien movie series. This significantly changes the feeling of many encounters. Instead of classic enemies, a Xenomorph suddenly stalks you through the environment. The mod was released in early March and is also available for free on Nexus Mods.

These mods improve gameplay

Not all mods change characters or enemies. Many focus on improving gameplay. A good example is True Headshot Overhaul. This mod ensures that precise headshots once again reliably lead to instant kills. Players who prefer classic survival horror mechanics often enjoy these types of adjustments.

Other mods give you unlimited ammunition, which could be especially useful when playing as Grace. On higher difficulties such as Nightmare Mode, ammunition can become quite scarce.

Another practical mod allows you to move significantly faster. If Leon’s and Grace’s movement speed feels too slow, the following mod provides a quick solution.

Although Leon receives an inventory expansion later in the game, Grace does not. She actually needs it even more, since her inventory space quickly becomes far too limited. You can easily fix this with the following mod to carry more items.

Installing mods: how it works

Installing mods in Resident Evil Requiem is relatively straightforward. First install REFramework by copying the file dinput8.dll into the main game directory. If everything works correctly, the REFramework menu will open in the game when pressing the Insert key. There you activate the options PAK Directory Loading and LooseFileLoader, then restart the game.

Afterwards install the Fluffy Mod Manager. Once you select the game directory, you can simply drag mod archives into the manager and activate them. The mods will automatically load the next time you start the game.
