After escaping the sanatorium, the story continues in the water treatment facility. We explain how to open the hatch in Resident Evil Requiem and drive away the shadow creature.
The water treatment plant in Resident Evil Requiem follows shortly after your escape from the sanatorium. Your goal is to open the hatch to let sunlight into the facility. However, without electricity the mechanism remains blocked. You therefore need to descend into the treatment plant, restore power to the water treatment system and constantly keep an eye on the movements of the shadow creature. In the guide below, you will learn step by step how to activate the three power distributors, where to find the missing lever and how to safely return to the hatch.
Why the Hatch in the Water Treatment Area Is So Important
After reaching the facility with Grace, you bring Emily into a safe room on the upper level. In the room before that, you will find the control console for the hatch. Once you activate it, the hatch opens only slightly before the process stops.
The power supply of the treatment plant has been interrupted. Your new objective is to restart three power distributors in the lower section of the water treatment facility. Only once all distributors are running can the hatch be fully opened.
Layout of the Treatment Plant: Two Levels, Three Power Distributors
The water treatment facility is divided into two areas. On the upper level you will find the storage room with Emily and the hatch control console. If you climb down the ladder, you will reach several winding corridors, three power distributors with red indicator lights, smaller side rooms and multiple industrial lamps.
In addition, the shadow creature constantly patrols the lower area. However, it always follows the same routes, which allows you to estimate when it is safe to move. As soon as the shadow creature turns its back to you, you can run to the next hiding spot.
Reactivating the Water Treatment: How to Find the Three Levers
Once you descend to the lower level, you should first take a moment to orient yourself. The power distributors can be identified by their red status lights. Each distributor has a lever that must be fully turned to restore power to that section.
- Important: The order does not matter. What matters is that all three systems are activated in the end.
The First Distributor in the Storage Area
You will find the first distributor in the storage area. Wait for a good moment when the shadow creature turns its back on you or moves down another corridor. Turn the lever completely. Once power flows again, the area becomes brighter, giving you a bit more safety.
Activate the Second Lever With Some Force
The second distributor is located in the Chemical Treatment Room. Observe the monster’s patrol route again and only move forward when it has moved away. You do not need to lure it away. Simply wait until it leaves the area and use the time window. Turning the lever takes a few seconds, but you should finish in time before the shadow creature returns.
- Note: If things get tight and the shadow creature is already on its way, you can use the industrial lamps to briefly bring yourself to safety.
Missing Lever in the Control Room
The third power distributor in the control room cannot be used at first because the lever is missing. You can find the missing piece in the adjacent room. Take the lever, return to the console and install it. You will already hear the shadow creature approaching, but you can still turn the lever so that the lighting fully activates. This restores the power supply of the entire water treatment facility. The red lights switch to active and you can now move much more freely through the lower level.
Take the Elevator Up and Open the Hatch
Once all three power distributors are activated, take the elevator back to the upper level. Darkness awaits you again, and the shadow creature is still active. First switch on the lamp straight ahead to give yourself a few seconds of light. Then quickly run to the hatch control console and activate it again. This time the mechanism will fully extend.
As soon as the hatch fully opens, bright sunlight breaks through the roof of the water treatment facility. The shadow creature cannot withstand the light and is finally destroyed. This concludes the section in the treatment plant, and a sequence will begin once you return to Emily.
