Two hidden photos and a reward that’s absolutely worth it: our guide to Resident Evil Requiem walks you step by step through Barry’s scavenger hunt in the Raccoon City Police Department.
In the abandoned Raccoon City Police Department, STARS veteran Barry Burton has left one final test for the next generation of agents. This scavenger hunt in Resident Evil Requiem takes you back to the series’ beginnings and should deliver a quick hit of nostalgia—especially for longtime fans. We’ll show you how to solve Barry’s puzzle, claim the reward, and find a small Easter egg.
How to solve Barry’s scavenger hunt
Step 1: Find the first clue in the STARS office
- This guide contains spoilers for a side quest in Resident Evil Requiem.
As soon as you enter the STARS office on the second floor of the RPD, look immediately to the right. You’ll see open lockers there. In one of them you’ll find the first photo —an image showing the office back in its former, tidy state: a TV, an American flag, office equipment. On the right side of the photo, next to the TV, there’s a handwritten circle with the word “HERE.” That’s your first hint pointing to where the key will later appear.

Step 2: Find the second clue in Chris Redfield’s leather jacket
Directly across from the door you came in through, Chris Redfield’s brown leather jacket is hanging on the wall. Interact with it to get the second photo. It shows a different perspective of the same office—this time with a whiteboard, a hanging TV, and an American flag in the lower-left corner. Together, both photos show the same room from different angles—and that’s the key to the whole thing.
- Important: Only after you’ve inspected both photos will the key appear in its hiding spot. If you go to the Operations Room before that, you won’t find anything there.
Step 3: Head to the Operations Room
Leave the STARS office and go to the first floor. The Operations Room is on the west side of the building and can be reached from the West Office—an office on the ground floor near the main hallway. Go through a door at the back of the office to enter the Operations Room.

Step 4: Find the key
At first, everything in the Operations Room looks chaotic—rubble, destroyed furniture, the complete opposite of the tidy offices in Barry’s photos. But the key elements are still there: the hanging TV, the whiteboard, and the American flag.
On the right side of the room, look for a pile of wooden pallets stacked next to a whiteboard. Climb up, turn around, and look toward the TV hanging from the ceiling. Right there—on top of the TV—you’ll find “JoJo’s Locker Key.”
- The name is an Easter egg for fans of “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure” and a nod to video game designer Hideki Kamiya.
Step 5: Back to the West Office—open the locker
With the key in hand, head back to the West Office. In the back-right corner of the room you’ll find a locker that’s clearly marked as locked. Open it with JoJo’s Locker Key.
The rewards from the scavenger hunt
S.T.A.R.S. Emblem Charm: This weapon charm is designed specifically for automatic weapons. It noticeably increases fire rate and damage output—ideal for players who like to push aggressively and keep the pressure on. The catch: The charm also increases weapon sway while aiming, which makes precision harder. If you play carefully and methodically, you’ll want to consider whether the talisman fits your style. If you’re all about firepower, though, you’ll value it highly.

SPOILER: Easter Egg
Along with the talisman, you’ll find two admission tickets to the Raccoon City Zoo, plus another handwritten note: “Enjoy! And don’t say I never gave you anything! – Barry.” The tickets can’t be used—the zoo no longer exists—but they’re one of the most touching details in the entire scavenger hunt. Barry wanted to give his colleagues something personal, a brief moment of normalcy away from the job. The fact that those tickets were never redeemed turns them into a quiet symbol of everything Raccoon City lost.
After opening the locker, take a close look inside. On the back wall hangs a Street Fighter Alpha poster. Next to it sits an old game console with game discs from classic Capcom titles: the original Resident Evil, Street Fighter Alpha 2 and Mega Man 3.
