Twin Blades for Aggressive Players
The Twin Blades are one of the two new additions in Code Vein 2 and are aimed at players who want to stay in constant motion. Armed with two short blades, you slip under enemy attacks and unleash lightning fast combos. The key strength of this weapon type lies in its interaction with the Drain system. Your rapid strikes build up bleed status on enemies, making Drain Attacks especially effective.

You can find the Ancient Hunter Twin Blades early on in the first cave together with Noah. This weapon scales with Dexterity and works perfectly with Noah’s Blood Code. His trait increases attack power with consecutive hits, further enhancing the strength of the Twin Blades. The Phantom Assault Forma launches you forward, dodges attacks in mid air, and lands a devastating two hit combo.
Rune Blades for Creative Fighters
The second new weapon type introduces a completely unusual playstyle. Rune Blades are floating blades that you control through Formae powers. While the blades circle around you, you fight with punches and kicks. The Orbital Blade Forma creates a rotating blade shield that damages enemies while you block.
However, these weapons require high Mind values. Without the right Blood Code, you will suffer from Burden penalties that limit your mobility. Lou’s Blood Code at rank C or higher solves this issue. You receive the Glutton’s Eyes automatically through progression in Jose’s story.

One handed Swords for Beginners
If you are new to the series, one handed swords offer the smoothest entry point. The attacks are easy to read, combos forgive mistakes, and the available Formae cover nearly every situation. Quick thrusts against single enemies alternate with sweeping strikes against groups. The balance between speed and damage makes this weapon type a safe choice.

Two handed Swords for Controlled Power
The long, heavy blades of two handed swords demand patience and timing. Every swing needs wind up, but hits with devastating force. You can find the Cursed Black Blade Killer after defeating Jose in the upper part of the estate. Wraith’s Fury, the associated Forma, chains into a combo sequence that reliably staggers enemies.

Chargeable attacks significantly increase range and damage. A fully charged downward strike can decide entire fights. Combining this weapon with Jose’s Blood Code, which offers high Strength and Dexterity, maximizes its damage potential.
Bayonets for Flexible Tacticians
This hybrid weapon type combines melee and ranged combat in a single tool. The blade mounted on the barrel allows for quick close range attacks, while the firing mode keeps enemies at a distance. Constantly switching between both modes takes practice, but rewards you with enormous tactical flexibility.

Specialized Formae for massive ranged damage complement the melee focused Formae. Against flying enemies or in situations where keeping your distance is crucial, bayonets truly shine.

If a single hit should decide the fight, pick up a hammer. These massive weapons break enemy posture like no other weapon type. Even enemies that resist other weapons are staggered by hammer blows.

Jump attacks from the air and shockwaves around the wielder allow you to gain the upper hand even when surrounded. The slow attack speed does require precise timing, though. A missed swing leaves you exposed for dangerous moments.
Understanding the Burden System
Every weapon puts strain on specific attribute values. If the total burden of an attribute exceeds its threshold, you suffer movement penalties. Light burden allows fast sprints, moderate burden limits you to standard rolls, and heavy overload makes you sluggish and vulnerable.
Blood Codes directly influence your burden thresholds. A Blood Code with high Mind values allows you to wield Rune Blades without penalties, while a Strength focused Code would fail with the same weapon. Choosing the right weapon and Blood Code must go hand in hand.
Upgrading and Customizing Weapons
You can upgrade your weapons at Jadwinger on the second floor of MagMell Island. She offers upgrades, Forma transformations, and sells new weapons once you have collected enough Uncanny Stones. These purple collectibles are scattered throughout the game world and unlock some of the best early weapons.
Upgrading a Jail to +11 unlocks your second weapon slot. This allows you to carry a backup weapon for different situations. A two handed sword for powerful single enemies and twin blades for fast groups, for example, complement each other perfectly.
