When Does Reanimal Release?
Reanimal launches worldwide on Friday, February 13, 2026. The developers have confirmed that there will be no regional delays. The game has already gone gold, meaning development is complete and the title is fully ready for release.
Which Platforms Is Reanimal Available On?
Reanimal will be released for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, as well as PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. A launch on older console generations or mobile devices is not planned.
Is Reanimal Coming to Xbox Game Pass?
At launch, Reanimal will not be included in Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation Plus, or any other subscription services. Anyone who wants to play at release will need to purchase the game—either the Standard Edition or one of the expanded editions.
Which Editions of Reanimal Are Available?
Reanimal will be released in three editions, each offering a different set of content:
Standard Edition
This edition includes the base game and is priced at $39.99. It’s ideal for players who simply want to experience the core game. Exclusive items such as masks or the Season Pass are not included.
Digital Deluxe Edition
Priced at $59.99, the Digital Deluxe Edition includes the game plus:
- Two exclusive masks (Foxhead, Muttonhead)
- The Season Pass with three additional DLC episodes
Collector’s Edition
Priced at $199.99, the limited Collector’s Edition includes all content from the Digital Deluxe Edition, plus a range of physical collectibles:

What Is Reanimal About?
The game tells the story of two orphaned siblings who return to their home island after it has been transformed by a mysterious event. Their goal is to find three missing friends, each located in one of the island’s three main regions.
The island itself has become a nightmarish place, permeated by supernatural forces and grotesque creatures. The narrative is dark and emotional, with a strong focus on the bond between the siblings. The story unfolds gradually through environments, puzzles, and encounters with enemies—largely without spoken dialogue.
How Does Reanimal Play?
The gameplay is built around three core pillars:
Co-op Horror Design With a Shared Camera
Reanimal is designed from the ground up as a cooperative experience. One of its standout features is a shared camera that captures both players at the same time. Instead of using split-screen, the game forces players to coordinate closely, heightening the sense of proximity and mutual dependence.
Solo players aren’t left behind: an AI companion takes control of the second character and is designed to actively assist with puzzles and behave in a believable way.
Stealth Over Combat
There is no direct combat. Enemies are far too powerful to confront head-on. Instead, the focus is on sneaking, hiding, and careful observation. Every encounter becomes a tense game of cat and mouse—and a true test of your nerves.
Physics-Based Puzzles
Many challenges revolve around environmental puzzles that require teamwork. Sometimes one player must create a distraction while the other operates a mechanism; other times, switches need to be activated together in the correct order. The puzzles are designed to vary the game’s pacing and emphasize the relationship between the characters.
Additional Features in Reanimal
Beyond its core mechanics, Reanimal offers a number of additional features. Cinematic chase sequences demand lightning-fast reactions as you escape danger in tightly scripted set pieces.
Travel between areas is handled by boat—a first for Tarsier Studios—which allows for a fully explorable 3D world and adds a new dimension to exploration. On the technical side, the game runs on Unreal Engine 5, leveraging modern lighting and shadow effects to create a dense, atmospheric visual style. Despite its high-end presentation, Reanimal is designed to run smoothly even on mid-range PCs.
What Multiplayer Options Does Reanimal Offer?
A Friend’s Pass is planned—similar to the system used in It Takes Two—allowing you to play with friends who don’t own the game themselves. It’s still unclear whether this feature will be available at launch. Reanimal also supports cross-play for platform-independent co-op, as well as a local couch co-op mode.
How Large Is the Game World?
The island is divided into three main regions and several smaller areas. Each main region is home to one of the missing friends. In addition, optional exploration zones can be reached by boat, offering extra lore, hidden puzzles, and new challenges.
Is There a Demo for Reanimal?
Yes. A free demo is available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. It covers the opening sections of the game, including the siblings’ reunion and their first encounters with the island’s creatures.
