The extraction shooter Arc Raiders has reached a major milestone and is celebrating with a gift for all players.
Developer Embark Studios has announced that Arc Raiders has now sold 12 million copies. Originally, the team had prepared a gift for 10 million players, but that milestone was surpassed so quickly over the holidays that the developers could not keep up.
As a thank you, all players who logged in between launch and January 13 at 11:59 pm CET will receive the cosmetic item “Gilded Pickaxe Raider Tool”, a gold plated pickaxe tool for their character.
Balancing update with cosmetic set and weapon adjustments
At the same time, update 1.11.0 has been released on all platforms. The update introduces the long awaited “Abyss” cosmetic set, along with several balance changes and bug fixes.
The developers have reduced the fire rate of the Kettle Rifle from 600 to 450 rounds per minute. According to the patch notes, the previous fire rate was only realistically achievable with macros, meaning automated inputs via third party software, which resulted in an unfair gameplay experience.
The Trigger Grenade has also been reworked. According to the developers, this grenade previously dominated PvP encounters and was preferred by players over all other grenade types. The delay between trigger and detonation has been increased from 0.7 to 1.5 seconds. This is intended to make it harder to detonate the grenade mid air, while keeping its function as a sticky bomb intact. In addition, damage falloff has been adjusted so that damage is more concentrated near the center of the explosion.

Additional changes address an exploit involving keycards that allowed players to keep room keys after use. Lighting has also been reduced in certain areas of the “Stella Montis Night Raid” map to make flashlights and audio awareness more relevant.
