Marvel’s Wolverine is shaping up to be a no-holds-barred action-adventure centered on fan-favorite mutant Logan. Here’s a roundup of everything confirmed so far on the story, gameplay, release window, and platforms.

Who’s developing Marvel’s Wolverine?

The game is being developed by Insomniac Games, the studio behind the Marvel’s Spider-Man series. Sony Interactive Entertainment is publishing, with development happening in close collaboration with Marvel Games.

When does Marvel’s Wolverine release?

Marvel’s Wolverine is currently slated for fall 2026. A specific date hasn’t been announced yet. In the PlayStation Store, some regions list the launch timing simply as “Q3 2026.”

What platforms is Marvel’s Wolverine coming to?

Insomniac’s new title is confirmed exclusively for PlayStation 5, with official notes also pointing to additional optimizations for PS5 Pro. A PlayStation 4 version is off the tabl. The developers say it was designed “from the ground up” for current-gen hardware. Ports for Nintendo Switch 2 or Xbox Series X aren’t planned at this time.

Because Sony is publishing, it’s also safe to rule out a launch in the Xbox Game Pass. A PC release later on is possible, though. Sony has followed that playbook before with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and The Last of Us 2.

Marvel’s Wolverine: Price and editions

So far, no special editions or pre-order bonuses have been announced. In the PlayStation Store, the game is currently listed as an “announcement” with the option to add it to your wishlist. Deluxe or Collector’s Editions haven’t been revealed yet. Marvel has said more details on pre-orders and bonus content are still to come. Since this is a major first-party PS5 release, a standard edition price around $70–$80 seems likely.

What do we know about the story?

Marvel’s Wolverine tells a standalone story centered on Logan, who sets out on a globe-spanning journey to confront the shadows of his past. Insomniac has teased a darker, more mature narrative designed to explore new sides of the character.

The story is framed as a worldwide thriller, with locations including:

  • Madripoor – an underworld hub from the Marvel universe
  • Canada’s wilderness – Logan’s original home turf
  • Tokyo’s streets – neon-soaked urban action with danger around every corner

Which characters and enemies have been confirmed?

The official trailer and accompanying info have already confirmed several familiar faces and factions:

  • Mystique – the shape-shifting mutant, whose role is still unclear
  • Omega Red – a brutal enemy with tentacle-like weapons and Soviet origins
  • The Reavers – a group of cybernetically enhanced mercenaries
  • A purple robot prototype – likely a Sentinel, a classic threat from the X-Men comics

Together, these teases point to a darker, more adult Marvel experience.

How does Marvel’s Wolverine play?

Marvel’s Wolverine is a pure single-player action-adventure that’s fully playable offline. The developers have described the combat as “fast, fluid, and ferocious,” and the tone is clearly aiming for something harsher than Insomniac’s previous Marvel outings.

Gameplay revolves around Logan’s iconic adamantium claws, used to slice through enemies or break them down up close. The system is also built around Berserker Rage, a momentum-style mechanic that rewards aggressive play with especially vicious attacks. The melee combat is intentionally brutal, with gritty violence and visible injuries. The game will also lean into DualSense features, including adaptive triggers and haptic feedback.

The violence level is high: The trailer clearly hints at gore. In the US, the game is rated “M (17+)” by the ESRB, effectively signaling an adult-targeted experience.

Who voices Logan?

Logan is voiced by Australian actor Liam McIntyre, best known for starring in Spartacus. He’s also voiced JD Fenix in Gears of War 4/5 and Taron Malicos in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

What does the latest trailer show?

The newest gameplay trailer dropped on September 24, 2025, and shows Wolverine in action across multiple locations, including the Princess Bar, snowy forests, gritty city alleys, and more. It features fights against Omega Red, a brief appearance by Mystique, and a tease of a massive purple robot. The trailer leans into Logan’s inner conflict with dramatic monologue lines and showcases several of the brutal close-quarters techniques the game is expected to deliver.
