Want to know how long Hogwarts Legacy takes to beat? We break down the playtime for all quests and show how many hours a complete playthrough can take.
How long the RPG Hogwarts Legacy will keep you busy largely depends on how deeply you want to immerse yourself in the world of Hogwarts. The game doesn’t just offer a lengthy main story, but also plenty of side missions, classes, collectibles, and optional challenges. We’ve summed up the most important details about overall playtime for you.
Hogwarts Legacy playtime: How much time the main story and side content take
The open-world adventure is significantly larger than many comparable games in the genre. Depending on your playstyle and goals, you can expect the following playtimes:
- Main story only: If you focus exclusively on the main quests, you’ll finish the game in around 30 to 40 hours. Highly focused players can even come in under 30 hours.
- Main story + side quests: If you also complete many of the roughly 100 side missions and optional activities such as class assignments, relationship questlines, or exploration, playtime increases to about 55 to 80 hours.
- 100% completion run: Players who want to explore every corner, complete all challenges, and collect every trophy should plan for 70 to well over 120 hours. In some cases, players report even longer playthroughs—especially if all four houses are completed to unlock the Platinum trophy.
Beyond the sheer number of quests, the open-world design also plays a major role. The world of Hogwarts Legacy invites exploration and is packed with hidden locations, challenges, and collectibles—all of which can dramatically increase playtime if you don’t rush straight through the main story.
