When Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 launches on November 14, you’ll be diving into a packed multiplayer offering. A total of 19 maps will be available — including 16 core 6v6 maps at launch, two large Skirmish maps for 20v20 battles, and the legendary return of Nuketown 2025 on November 20 during the pre-season. On top of that, you’ll find a broad mix of modes in both standard and Hardcore variants, plus Operators with their own backstories. This guide gives you a complete breakdown of everything waiting for you in Black Ops 7’s multiplayer.

Black Ops 7: Multiplayer modes overview

Black Ops 7 launches with a broad selection of modes, most of which are available in both standard and Hardcore variants. Hardcore modes follow the usual rules: limited HUD, friendly fire enabled, and drastically reduced health. By default, skill-based matchmaking only has a minor impact, and persistent lobbies mean you’ll often stay matched with the same players across multiple back-to-back games.

Classic modes with standard and Hardcore variants

  • Team Deathmatch: The all-time classic: eliminate enemy players to earn points for your team. The first team to reach 100 points wins, or whoever has the most points after 10 minutes. Party size: 1–6 players.
  • Domination: Capture, hold, and defend three objectives on the map to continuously earn points. The score limit is 200 with no time limit. Teamwork and controlling the key zones are crucial. Party size: 1–6 players.
  • Search & Destroy: A tactical, no-respawn mode: one team plants bombs, the other tries to defuse them. Sides swap after each round. Each round lasts 2 minutes, and the first team to win 6 rounds takes the match. Party size: 1–6 players.
  • Kill Confirmed: Eliminations alone aren’t enough — collect enemy dog tags to score points and grab your teammates’ tags to deny the enemy. Score limit: 75, time limit: 10 minutes. Party size: 1–6 players.
  • Free-for-All: Everyone versus everyone: eliminate other players to earn points. The first player to reach 30 points wins, or whoever is in the lead after 10 minutes. Party size: 1 player (solo).
  • Hardpoint: A single zone appears on the map — capture and hold it to earn points. The hardpoint periodically rotates to a new position. Score limit: 250, time limit: 5 minutes. Party size: 1–6 players.
  • VIP Escort: Each team has a High-Value Target (HVT). Eliminate the enemy HVT while protecting your own. Taking down the enemy HVT grants bonus points. Score limit: 150, time limit: 10 minutes. Party size: 1–6 players.
  • Control: A round-based mode with limited lives: one team attacks zones while the other defends. Teams swap roles after each round. Round time: 1 minute 30 seconds, and the first team to win 2 rounds takes the match. Party size: 1–6 players. Available in standard mode only.
  • Face-off Moshpit: A playlist combining several 6v6 respawn modes on smaller maps. Scorestreaks are disabled here. Match length and score limits vary by mode. Party size: 1–6 players. Available in standard and Hardcore variants.

New mode: Overload

A brand-new mode for Black Ops 7: carry a device into enemy zones to sabotage them. Match length and score limit vary depending on how the game plays out. Available in both standard and Hardcore variants. Party size: 1–6 players.

Alternative modes

  • Ground War: The new large-scale mode: two teams of 20 players battle across wide-open maps for objectives and points. Match length and score limits vary. Party size: 1–20 players.
  • Gunfight: Intense 2v2 duels with preset loadouts. Eliminate both opponents to win the round. No respawns during the round. Round time: 40 seconds, first team to 6 round wins takes the match. Party size: 1–2 players.
  • Confrontation modes: Variants of familiar modes, tuned specifically for smaller maps with scorestreaks disabled: Confrontation – Domination, Confrontation – Team Deathmatch, Confrontation – VIP Escort, Confrontation – Kill Confirmed.

Black Ops 7: Multiplayer maps available at launch

Black Ops 7 launches with 19 maps in total — one of the largest day-one map lineups in Call of Duty history.

Small maps (6v6 and 2v2)

  • Blackheart: A Guild drilling platform in the middle of the ocean. Fight for control of the central drill or push toward the cargo barge loaded with containers. The dive bell offers a flanking route, but be careful near the grinding pit. Available in 6v6 and 2v2.
  • Colossus: A luxury resort ship drifting through the Caribbean after sustaining heavy damage. Expect firefights in the atrium, bar, maintenance decks, and baggage claim. Outside, shattered helipads and debris turn the exterior into a dangerous gauntlet. Available in 6v6.
  • Cortex: A secret Guild lab perched on a Mediterranean cliff. Battle through containment chambers and the morgue. The underpass gives you control of the middle lane, while a narrow skybridge over the water offers a risky flanking route. Available in 6v6 and 2v2.
  • Flagship: Underneath a decommissioned aircraft carrier off the U.S. coast. Fight through the bowels of the ship — a climbing rope takes you up to the scaffolding above. Tight corridors and close-quarters engagements define this arena. Available in 6v6 and 2v2.
  • Hijacked (remaster from Black Ops 2): the legendary superyacht returns, this time anchored in Tokyo Bay. Intense action from bow to stern, with the mid deck acting as the central hub. Take duels between opposing vantage points or brawl below deck in the engine room. Available in 6v6.
  • Homestead: David Mason’s family home in the Alaskan wilderness beneath the northern lights. Fight inside the cabin or use the frozen terrain outside to set up flanks. Watch the outbuildings and use the icy water to reposition. Available in 6v6.
  • Nuketown 2025 (remaster from Black Ops 2) – pre-season from November 20
The fan favorite returns as a retro-futuristic vision. Two mirrored houses flank a central street. Every engagement is lightning-fast, and annihilation looms at the end of each match. Wall runs add more traversal options than ever before. Available in 6v6.
  • Paranoia: A hospital where something feels off — or is it all just in Mason’s head? One side appears normal, while the other spirals into a psychological nightmare with floating debris and eerie purple lighting. Available in 6v6 and 2v2.

Medium-sized maps (6v6)

  • Den: A feudal Japanese castle high above a valley, converted into a high-tech Guild stronghold. The central courtyard encourages aggressive play, while the dojo, conference room, and damaged rooftops between the armory and garage offer alternate routes.
  • Exposure: A facility in the Australian outback, surrounded by a massive solar farm and scarred by a tank assault. Open ground favors long-range fights, while a suspended Guild shipping container and structures like the tower, pumps, and storage units provide key cover points.
  • Express (remaster from Black Ops 2): the iconic high-speed rail station returns, operated by Sunrise Railways. Fight across the tracks, inside parked trains, and through the terminal concourses. The control booth is perfect for snipers — just watch out for incoming trains.
  • Imprint: A frozen robotics facility clinging to an Alaskan cliff, printing drones and tanks via 3D manufacturing. Tight interior corridors circle the core, while icy ledges outside support long-range engagements. Activate the lift conveyor for vertical movement in the outer area.
  • Raid (remaster from Black Ops 2): the stunning modern villa returns, now set on the Japanese coast. Trade shots across the courtyard and driveway, brawl through the open interior, clash on the basketball court, or fall back to the pool for last-ditch defenses.
  • Retrieval: A crashed Guild stealth aircraft lies scattered across the Alaskan tundra. Fight through ice caves, frozen streams, and jagged rocks. Use the underpasses near the encrypted cargo for brutal ambushes in the bitter cold.
  • Scar: The rough-hewn town of Silverbrook in Alaska, where frontier charm collides with military presence. Firefights break out in the general store, clinic, and the “Old Bear” restaurant. The motel balcony offers elevated positions over the old streets.
  • The Forge: The Guild’s R&D hub within a harbor complex dedicated to autonomous weapons development. Twin wings connected by covered walkways converge in a central area where rotating walls safeguard a defensive turret.
  • Toshin: A derailed Guild monorail tears through a neon-soaked Japanese shopping district. Fight across the park, market, and elevated walkways around the crash site. Make smart use of verticality and long sightlines along the main street.

Large Skirmish maps (20v20)

  • Mission: Edge: Downtown Avalon, with high-rises, hotels, cafés, and courtyards. Use ascenders to reach the upper floors or stay on the streets for intense vehicle battles. Capture rooftops and zones in this vertical urban warzone.
  • Mission: Tide: A fortified coastal installation on Avalon’s shoreline. Fight along the beaches and rocks, breach the walls, and push on foot or with vehicles through the armory, mess hall, and barracks. Climb towers and catwalks for a strategic overview.
