Scrappy is your resource-gathering sidekick in ARC Raiders. This guide shows you how to train him into a Master Hoarder — including every location for crucial upgrade items.
In ARC Raiders, you’ll leave Speranza to scavenge and survive. While you’re out, your feathered friend “Scrappy” quietly hoovers up resources like Metal Parts, Rubber Parts, or Seeds. Here’s the clever bit: if you fail a raid, Scrappy brings back double as a consolation prize. With targeted training and the right items — lemons, apricots, olives, and more — you can massively boost his haul rate. It’s absolutely worth it.
Scrappy upgrades in ARC Raiders: The five tiers at a glance
Scrappy progresses through five tiers; each one increases the resources he brings back after a raid. It pays to upgrade him as soon as you can.
- Fledgling
- Forager
- Scavenger
- Treasure Hunter
- Master Hoarder
Find a dog collar — promote Scrappy to Forager
For the first upgrade, you only need a dog collar. You’ll find them in all Residential Areas. Sweep the apartment blocks along the edges of the Dam Battlegrounds map and you’ll score one fast.
- Where to look: Old residential buildings — typically on shelves, in cabinets, or on tables.
- Tip: Check the Pattern House on Dam Battlegrounds.

Find lemons in ARC Raiders — unlock the Scavenger upgrade
Lemons are essential for Scrappy’s third tier and often the first real hurdle if you don’t know where to look. The general rule for all fruit and veg: check fruit baskets during Lushbloom events.
- Where to look: Grows on small bushes. Easy finds on Dam Battlegrounds or Blue Gate.
- Tip: Fruit baskets hold multiple pieces. During Lushbloom they’re even richer. The swamp on Dam Battlegrounds has several easy-to-spot baskets.

Find apricots in ARC Raiders — for Scavenger & Master Hoarder
Apricots are needed for two upgrades — and you’ll need a lot of them. As with lemons, wait for a Lushbloom event.
- Where to look: Same as lemons — on bushes or scattered on the ground nearby. Especially common during Lushbloom events.
- Tip: Gather lemons and apricots together — or better yet, focus on fruit baskets during events and use a Raiderhatch to extract.

Find prickly pears in ARC Raiders — for Treasure Hunter
Prickly pears are the key to tier four. You’ve probably walked past cacti you can interact with — that’s where you harvest them.
- Where to look: Mainly on the desert map Buried City, on cacti.
- Tip: You can also find them on Dam Battlegrounds, just less often.

Find olives in ARC Raiders — for Treasure Hunter
Olives are rarer, but just like the other Scrappy resources, they’re easier to snag during a Lushbloom event.
- Where to look: On bushes — especially on the Blue Gate map in the Olive Grove area.
- Tip: In the Olive Grove you can also find apricots and lemons. Keep your eyes peeled for everything.

Find a cat bed in ARC Raiders — for Treasure Hunter
A quirky but essential item. Scrappy may be a rooster, but he loves napping in a cat bed. After all the work he does for you, he’s earned it.
- Where to look: Apartments, supermarkets, and stores.
- Tip: Ruby Residence, Pale Apartments, and Pattern House on Dam Battlegrounds are worth combing through.

Find mushrooms in ARC Raiders — for Master Hoarder
For Scrappy’s final tier, you’ll need mushrooms — lots of them. Look for clusters on trees or objects in damp, wet areas.
- Where to look: On tree stumps in swamps or on other objects in moist zones.
- Tip: Weird but true — they can also spawn in fruit baskets.

Find a Very Comfortable Pillow in ARC Raiders — for Master Hoarder
The name is a tad dramatic — but Scrappy loves them. And what’s cozier than a cat bed? Right: a cat bed with three very comfortable pillows.
- Where to look: Residential buildings and shops.
- Tip: If you’ve been farming cat beds and dog collars for a while, you may already have picked up pillows. Stash them early.

ARC Raiders: How Scrappy training works
Train Scrappy at your base. There you’ll see exactly which items unlock the next tier. With the tracking feature enabled, required items get a small on-loot marker so you instantly know you still need them. If you have a free safe slot, stash them there to guarantee a 100% extract.
- Important: Upgrades are linear — you must unlock each tier in order, but you can pre-collect future items whenever you find them.
Farming tips: Efficient routes for Scrappy items
Here are a few quick farming loops:
- Buried City: Perfect for prickly pears and mushrooms — start in the southern ruins.
- Dam Battlegrounds: A balanced mix of mushrooms, apricots/lemons, and the occasional prickly pear — plus fruit baskets in the swamp.
- Spaceport: Plenty of wooded pockets for mushrooms and fruit baskets in the hangars.
- Blue Gate: Ideal for lemons and apricots — especially during Lushbloom events.

Project Expedition — taking Scrappy to the next level
Starting at level 20, you can launch your first Project — a meta feature that runs for eight weeks. Your progress partially resets, but you gain permanent bonuses, including upgrades for Scrappy. No one knows the exact perks yet, but they could include:
- Increased carry capacity (up to 100 units per item)
- New resource types like ARC energy cells or fruit
- Exclusive skins and accessories for Scrappy
- Heads-up: The Project can’t be undone — start it only when you’re ready.
Scrappy skins & accessories — the rooster’s got style
It’s not just your character that can flex new looks — Scrappy can be styled up, too. Beyond full-body skins that change his plumage, there are a few accessories to collect.
Alongside the default look, there are currently two more:
- Rooster skin — rustic flair
- Gold skin — for collectors with taste
Accessories like cowboy hats, aviator goggles, or buckets unlock via events or can be purchased in the shop.
