Yes. For the first time since Battlefield 5, Battlefield 6 features a full single-player campaign. The story takes place in 2027 and centers on a growing global conflict between NATO and the fictional military corporation Pax Armata. The focus is on strike team “Dagger 13,” with characters such as Hayden “Haz” Carter, Dylan Murphy, and Simone “Gecko” Espina. Missions take players across the US, Gibraltar, and Egypt. The campaign was spearheaded by Criterion Games and Motive Studios.
Which multiplayer modes are in Battlefield 6?
Battlefield 6 brings back classic multiplayer modes and adds new twists. Here’s the full lineup:
- Conquest (64 players)
- Breakthrough (32–64 players)
- Rush (24 players)
- Escalation (up to 64 players)
- Team Deathmatch (16 players)
- Squad Deathmatch (16 players)
- Domination (16 players)
- King of the Hill (16 players)
There will also be a new tournament-style mode called “Gauntlet,” launching post-release on the battle royale map. A standalone free-to-play battle royale will follow later. Both are being developed by Ripple Effect Studios.
How does the class system work?
Battlefield 6 returns to the traditional class structure. Players can choose between Assault, Support, Recon, and Engineer, each with distinct roles and loadout options. Unlike older titles, however, weapons are no longer tied to specific classes – a design choice already sparking debate in the community.
What’s new in Portal mode?
The fan-favorite Portal mode is back, revamped as both an official server browser and a sandbox for community creations. It allows players to:
- Create custom servers
- Rotate modes and maps
- Define rules and objectives
- Integrate AI scripting
- Customize interface and HUD
For full XP progression, Portal servers must be verified by DICE and can only make limited gameplay changes.
How big are the maps in Battlefield 6?
At launch on October 10, nine multiplayer maps will be available. The locations are spread across the globe – from Cairo to Gibraltar, Brooklyn, and Tajikistan. The maps vary in size and style: some focus on vehicle-heavy combat, others on infantry battles in dense urban settings.
What tech powers Battlefield 6?
Battlefield 6 runs on the latest Frostbite Engine, with major technical upgrades:
- Advanced destruction: buildings can be strategically damaged, smaller structures fully demolished
- New animation and movement systems
- On PC: DLSS 4, FSR 4, XeSS 2, ultrawide support, 600+ customization options
- Anticheat system: EA Javelin with Secure Boot
System requirements are expected to be on the higher end.
Which weapons and vehicles are included?
With its modern-military setting, Battlefield 6 brings back plenty of familiar weapons – including the AK series, MP5, M1911, and G36. The vehicle roster is equally broad:
- Ground: Bradley, Leopard 2, Abrams, Gepard, Jeeps, Quads
- Air: Apache, Black Hawk, Eurocopter Tiger, F-22 Raptor, Su-57
What’s the live-service strategy?
Battlefield 6 will follow a seasonal live-service model with a Battle Pass, plus new maps, weapons, and modes added regularly. Through the new “Battlefield Labs” system, community ideas can be tested and potentially integrated into the game if successful.
In the long term, EA is exploring expanding the Battlefield universe with spin-offs and other media projects, though nothing concrete has been announced yet.
What controversies surround Battlefield 6?
Development hasn’t been entirely smooth. Reports suggest tensions between the collaborating studios, with the budget said to have exceeded $400 million. On top of that, a Saudi investment in Electronic Arts has sparked debates within the community about ethical concerns.
