With the major Beauty and the Beast update, two more fan favorites join your village in Disney Dreamlight Valley: Lumiere and Cogsworth. But they don’t just appear automatically – you’ll need to complete an entire questline centered around the enchanted castle. To make sure you don’t miss anything, we’ll guide you step by step through the quest “The Haunting of the Beast’s Castle” to unlock both characters.

Requirements for the Questline

Before you can begin, a few base conditions must be met:

  • Unlock the Beast’s Castle: Costs 15,000 Dreamlight
  • Belle and the Beast must already live in your village: You’ll need to complete their introduction quests first.

Once these conditions are met, you’ll find a rose from the Beast in your mailbox. This starts the quest “The Haunting of the Beast’s Castle.”

Quest 1: The Haunting of the Beast’s Castle

This is where the main adventure begins.

  1. Enter the castle and follow the path until you meet Lumiere.
  2. Your first task: craft Fireplace Fuel. Head right from Lumiere into the secret passage.
  3. Gather: 3 x Canola, Softwood, Paper. Use these to craft Fireplace Fuel and give it to Lumiere.
  4. Catch the Flying Painting: Grab it just behind you and hang it by the piano at the grand staircase.
  5. Pick up the page and bring it to Lumiere.
  6. Dialogue about ghosts: You can answer “Yes” or “No” – it has little impact on the quest.

Quest 2: A Growing Mystery

Now it’s Cogsworth’s turn to join the story.

  1. Speak with him, then head to the West Wing into the Beast’s room. There you’ll find rose seeds.
  2. Plant the seeds in the castle garden.
  3. Craft Lawn Fertilizer: Go back to your village and use the workbench.
  4. Use your watering can + fertilizer on the roses in the castle garden. You’ll get Rainbow Roses.
  5. Place the roses in the vases near the piano.
  6. Reward: A key + a second page. You’ll also get another small dialogue choice with little consequence.

Quest 3: Belle, Book, and Candle

Things get more puzzle-oriented here:

Quest 4: A Guide to Better Castle-Keeping

A masquerade ball is being prepared.

  1. Find the silverware set in the garden cellar. Place it at the piano.
  2. Next, prepare a Charcuterie Board. Ingredients:
    • Oyster: Secret passage in the library (storage)
    • Spooky Giant Crab: Also in the secret passage (storage)
    • Scary Cucumber: On a library table
    • Brouere: On a library table
    • Shriek Butter: On a library table
  3. Cook the dish in the secret passage and place it on the piano table.
  4. Have a few conversations, put on the mask, and take a photo with Lumiere & Cogsworth.

At the end of this questline, Lumiere will join your village. Cogsworth, however, still remains in the castle.
