The developers of Phasmophobia have announced the overhaul of the popular map 6 Tanglewood Drive. You can find out what is changing and why a well known gameplay area was removed here.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

FACTS<\/span><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Developer studio Kinetic Games has announced that the reworked version of the map 6 Tanglewood Drive will be released on March 3, 2026<\/strong> for all platforms. The map is one of the original locations from the ghost hunting game Phasmophobia and remains one of the community\u2019s most popular settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As with previous map reworks, the developers aim to bring the original location up to the quality standards the team can now achieve. Completely new objects, props and animations have been created for this purpose. According to Kinetic Games, the house is intended to feel far more lived in than other homes in the game. Older furniture and decorations are meant to create the impression that someone once lived there before something unsettling happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Developers focus on storytelling<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The developers are also experimenting with environmental storytelling, meaning a narrative that emerges directly from the surroundings. Players are expected to piece together their own stories about what happened inside 6 Tanglewood Drive as they explore the map.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team has intentionally made only minor changes to the core layout of the house in order to preserve the familiar character of the map. However, new interaction options and distinctive points of interest are designed to provide a fresher gameplay experience. The redesign draws in part on the experience the team gained while creating newer maps such as Nell’s Diner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kitchen and audio have been reworked<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One area that has changed significantly is the kitchen. The so called looping spot has been removed, which previously allowed players to run the ghost in circles to escape. According to the developers, this decision was made purely for gameplay reasons in order to improve the overall flow of the map. Other suitable looping areas are still available elsewhere on the map.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Audio has also seen major improvements. Kinetic Games has added numerous new sound elements to both existing and newly designed areas of the map. The result is intended to be one of the most immersive maps in the entire game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6 Tanglewood Drive is one of the original maps in Phasmophobia and holds a special place within the community. The game, in which players take on the role of ghost hunters investigating different locations and identifying spirits, has been in Early Access on Steam since 2020 and has been continuously updated ever since.
