Meta is expanding its Horizon+ VR subscription with two more titles at no extra cost this month. Here’s a look at the latest additions and whether they’re worth downloading.
In June 2026, Meta Horizon+ subscribers can claim two new “free” VR games: Trombone Champ: Unflattened! and Maskmaker. If you haven’t played either title yet, here’s whether they’re worth installing on your Meta Quest 3 or Quest 3S.
Horizon+: Free VR Games for Meta Quest in June 2026
Trombone Champ: Unflattened!
I had the chance to try Trombone Champ: Unflattened! at Gamescom before its release, and I nearly laughed myself off my feet. The debut VR title from the then-young Flat2VR Studios is a completely absurd rhythm game where, instead of slashing notes with swords or tapping buttons, you play a virtual trombone. To hit the correct pitches, you have to move the instrument’s slide back and forth with precision.
It sounds simple enough, but during your first few runs it feels nearly impossible. The game doesn’t generate notes automatically. You need timing, coordination, and a feel for the trombone’s movement. Until you develop that muscle memory, you’ll produce one hilariously off-key note after another, often with ridiculous results.
My verdict: Whether you’re a fan of music and rhythm games or not, give this quirky gem a chance.
Regular price: $18
Maskmaker
My colleague Tomislav reviewed Maskmaker for MIXED back when it launched and came away impressed. His verdict: “Maskmaker is nearly flawless. Its beautiful world, often surprising puzzles, and mask-crafting mechanics come together to create an enchanting experience that occasionally makes you forget you’re playing a game rather than living a fairy tale.”
The game comes from the creators of A Fisherman’s Tale and once again focuses on exploration and puzzle-solving in a magical storybook world. You play as an apprentice learning the craft of creating magical masks under the guidance of a mysterious Maskmaker. These masks act as keys that unlock different parts of the world.
Also worth reading:
The core mechanic revolves around switching between different bodies. When you put on a completed mask, you take on the perspective of another character, allowing you to overcome obstacles and access new areas. This concept forms the basis for many of the game’s puzzles. Back in your workshop, you’ll gather materials, combine components, and craft masks step by step.
My verdict: Maskmaker is a small masterpiece that perfectly showcases the strengths of VR gaming. Highly recommended for players who enjoy inventive mechanics and unique storytelling.
Regular price: $10
