Lacra is surprisingly forgiving of your mistakes. Still, there’s one moment near the end where you absolutely have to make the right choice. My guide walks you safely through all five quests leading up to your night together.
Lacra is one of the romance options in The Blood of Dawnwalker, and her romance is refreshingly straightforward. Unlike with Anca, you can even disagree with the vampire lady or act against her wishes during her personal questline without jeopardizing the romance. The real make-or-break moment comes at the end of the optional quest “The Night of Horrors.”
Yes, you read that right: optional. That means you can easily miss both the quest and the romance if you make the wrong decision. I’ll walk you through every quest, the relevant dialogue choices, and the final scene where you really need to pay attention.
Lacra’s Questline at a Glance
Lacra’s personal questline consists of five quests that you need to complete in order:
- A Friend Like This kicks things off and introduces you to Lacra for the first time.
- Next comes Song of the Mountain, where you visit a Uriashi village together.
- Hive and Seek sends you through goblin caves in search of Isbrand.
- In Our Rotten Roots, you travel to Anachora with Lacra and learn more about her past.
- The questline concludes with The Night of Horrors, which takes you through a swamp to a hidden cave and is where the romance actually happens.
Between some of Lacra’s quests, you’ll need to wait an entire in-game day before the next one becomes available. Keep that in mind when managing your time.
Lacra’s Romance Is Missable: What You Need to Know
The most important quest—the one where the romance actually happens, “The Night of Horrors”—is optional. You absolutely need to complete it before starting Lacra’s final main quest, “Midnight Reckoning.” Otherwise, you’ll miss the romance. You can unlock the quest by visiting Lacra after “Our Rotten Roots” and selecting the dialogue option about Lacra’s idea.
A Friend Like This: How to Find Lacra
There are several ways to begin Lacra’s questline. One option is to investigate the tracks in northeastern Svartrau City at night, which will put you on Lacra’s trail. Alternatively, the NPC Vicho can tell you about Lacra after the quest “A Study in Scarlet” (guide), or you can find a corresponding clue after defeating Ambrus. At night, you can follow Lacra’s trail across the city rooftops all the way to her hideout.

After meeting Lacra for the first time and fighting alongside her, she interrogates the Uriashi Nish. You’ll face a moral decision here, but you can’t ruin the romance yet. For the most positive relationship possible, I recommend taking the peaceful route: Talk to Nish, give him your word, and ultimately stop Lacra from killing him. The final dialogue option essentially amounts to “You’re not going to kill him.”
Song of the Mountain: Diplomacy Instead of a Bloodbath
For this quest, you’ll meet Lacra at Crown Rock at night. She initially suggests draining a shepherd. You can agree or talk her out of it. This choice has no major impact on the rest of the quest or the romance. What happens afterward is much more important.
- Tip: Complete the quest “What the Heart Commands” beforehand and befriend Ocha by speaking with the Uriash at the inn on Svartau’s town square. This will make the Uriash friendly toward you from the start.
You’ll visit a Uriashi village together, where the situation can quickly spiral out of control. Defuse the situation, choose peaceful responses, and select the option to do nothing twice. This allows you to pass the Uriashi test and avoid a massacre.

A fight would not only cost you access to merchants, but also block at least one additional quest in the village. Choosing the peaceful outcome does not prevent Lacra’s romance—quite the opposite. It keeps all your options open while also giving you access to the village’s additional merchants and quests.
Hive and Seek: No Need to Worry in the Goblin Caves
This quest takes you and Lacra through the goblin caves in search of Isbrand. The good news: You can’t mess anything up here. Your decisions involving the goblins have no effect on the romance.
Our Rotten Roots: Two Decisions
After “Hive and Seek,” you’ll first need to wait one full in-game day, or 16 time segments, before this quest becomes available. After that, meet Lacra again at night and travel to Anachora together.
Should You Pry Into Lacra’s Past?
At one point during the quest, the path splits. Lacra wants to continue to the right, while an optional memory from her past can be found to the left. She explicitly warns you not to go that way. This is where many players start to wonder: Can you look at the memory without jeopardizing the romance? The answer is yes.

You can still successfully trigger the romance after taking this detour. If you want to play it safe, you can apologize to Lacra afterward, but even that isn’t strictly necessary.
Should You Absorb Isbrand?
This quest also gives you the choice of whether Coen should absorb Isbrand. This decision is also irrelevant to the romance. It only determines whether Isbrand occasionally speaks inside Coen’s head afterward and has no effect on your relationship with Lacra. You’ll also gain the vampire ability “Bone-Shaking Scream.”

The Night of Horrors: This Is Where Everything Is Decided
After “Our Rotten Roots,” you’ll once again need to wait a full in-game day. You can then speak with Lacra at the tower near the western outpost. The quest can only be played at night and takes up to seven time segments, depending on whether you trigger the additional romance sequence. Make sure you have enough nighttime left.
- Important: One more reminder: Make sure you complete “The Night of Horrors” before starting Lacra’s final main quest, “Midnight Reckoning.” Once you begin that quest, your opportunity is gone.
Will-o’-the-Wisps and Personal Conversations
As you accompany Lacra through the swamp, you attract will-o’-the-wisps by sharing personal and painful memories. Several dialogue options appear along the way. These responses are not hard romance checks—they simply help lure the will-o’-the-wisps and keep the conversation going. There’s no need to panic over picking the “right” answer here. Choose whichever responses you prefer, as the romance does not depend on them.
The Mandrake: The One Moment You Can’t Get Wrong
At the end of the quest, you’ll reach Kallias’ hidden cave. Lacra finds a mandrake there, and from this point onward, you actually need to pay attention.
The safe sequence is:
- Eat the mandrake
- Follow Lacra
- Reciprocate her advances
- Drink Lacra’s blood
- Kiss Lacra.
The decisive moment is the mandrake itself. If you refuse to eat it, the romantic opportunity ends immediately and permanently. Eat it, follow Lacra, and then choose to drink and kiss her to trigger the intimate scene.

Rewards: What Do You Get From Lacra’s Romance?
Eating the mandrake grants you the vampire Perk “Mandrake Ward.” Once per night, it prevents a lethal hit and restores three health segments.
During Lacra’s sequence, you can also unlock the ability “Mesmerise.” This ability is not exclusive to Lacra’s romance. If you skip the romance, you’ll receive a vial of Lacra’s blood instead, which also unlocks the ability.
Completing “The Night of Horrors” also rewards you with 1,000 XP, two skill points, and the trophy or achievement “Misery Loves Company.”
