The Blood of Dawnwalker is the debut game from Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by former CD Projekt veterans. In this dark-fantasy RPG, you play as Coen, a young man who unexpectedly becomes a half-vampire and has just 30 days to rescue his family from the clutches of the vampire lord Brencis. Day and night don’t just fundamentally change the game world, but Coen’s abilities as well. In this overview, you’ll find every guide, walkthrough, and article I’ve published for the game.

  • I’ll keep expanding this article as new guides go live, so be sure to check back regularly.

For release details, platforms, and technical requirements, see my The Blood of Dawnwalker launch guide.

The Ultimate Beginner’s Guide: Everything You Need to Know to Get Started

My comprehensive beginner’s guide walks you through the game’s most important mechanics. You’ll learn how the time limit actually works and why you don’t need to worry about constantly running out of time, which difficulty setting you should choose, how the Infamy system affects Coen’s standing with Brencis’ court, and how healing works as both a human and a vampire. I also explain the entire leveling system, including the three skill trees Swordmastery, Witchcraft, and Vampirism, along with the most useful skills to unlock early on.

Fast Travel & Getting Around Without a Mount

There are no mounts in The Blood of Dawnwalker. Instead, you’ll use wayside shrines as fast-travel points and rely on Coen’s supernatural abilities to move around the world. During the day, the Witchcraft ability “Mercurial Fervour” makes him sprint much faster, while at night the “Shapeshift” ability lets Coen transform into a wolf. Vampire abilities such as Shadowstep, Claw Ride, and Plane Shift also help you overcome obstacles and take shortcuts.

Quest Guides & Walkthroughs

The Blood of Dawnwalker is packed with complex quests, hidden objectives, and decisions with serious consequences. I’ve written detailed walkthroughs for some of the most important missions, with more already in the works:

Finding Legendary Gear

The highest item rarity in The Blood of Dawnwalker is “Legendary.” There are legendary swords, armor pieces, rings, amulets, and consumables. I’ve compiled every legendary item for you and explain where to find them and what benefits they can bring to your build.

Boss Guides

Find and Defeat Xanthe Early

You can track down and fight the dark boyar Xanthe shortly after the prologue without sabotaging any of her Court Activities first. At night, climb the scaffolding on the cathedral in Svartrau to find her performing a blood ritual. In my guide, I explain the full boss fight, every attack pattern, the crucial blood-orb mechanic, and the decisions that follow: drink her blood or kill her, invite her in or leave her behind.

You can take on the boss fight against Xanthe much earlier in Blood of Dawnwalker – but doing so comes with serious consequences.

Romance Guides

How to Romance Anca

Anca is one of the most important characters in the early game. If you want to romance her, you’ll need to make the right dialogue choices across five quests – from your first meeting in the prologue all the way to the declaration of love at the inn. I’ll walk you through every conversation that matters.

How to Romance Lacra

Lacra’s questline is extensive and comes with several useful rewards. She accompanies you across six quests all the way to the finale at the castle. One quest is optional, however – and if you miss it, you’ll also lose your chance at a romantic encounter with Lacra.

How to Romance Crake (Marat)

Crake, the mysterious leader of the Manumits, is another romance option in The Blood of Dawnwalker. His storyline involves an optional investigation and a time-sensitive quest that you can easily miss. My guide explains how to unlock A Closer Look, find Marat in time, and choose the dialogue options that lead to his romance.

The Best Mods for Blood of Dawnwalker

If you’re playing The Blood of Dawnwalker on PC, you can customize your experience by installing mods. In his guide, Kevin shows you which mods the community likes most and how to install them.

News & Updates

Hotfix 1.0.4 fixed numerous issues in The Blood of Dawnwalker, including quest blockers, a save problem, and several bizarre bugs. Dead NPCs could start conversations, for example, while torches could grow uncontrollably. One detail that particularly amused the community was a red placeholder pipe labeled “DO NOT USE” that accidentally made its way into the finished game.

The Blood of Dawnwalker Review

For me, Blood of Dawnwalker is one of the highlights of 2026. Its storytelling stands out thanks to an emotionally gripping prologue, superbly written characters, and an innovative quest structure that allows the story to unfold organically. Combat can feel somewhat stiff when you’re facing multiple enemies, and the skill tree could have used more depth. Even so, I recommend the game without reservation.

Editions, Prices & Buying Guide

There are four editions of Blood of Dawnwalker in total, ranging from the $69.99 digital Standard Edition to the limited $199.99 Collector’s Edition. None of them offers any gameplay advantages over the others. I consider the Day 1 Edition the most appealing option, since it costs the same as the Standard Edition while also including a SteelBook and a physical world map.
