If you want to get Lead early in Subnautica 2, you’ll need to know the exact location. We’ll save you the search and show you where to find the resource.
Lead is one of those resources in Subnautica 2 that can slow your progress down much earlier than expected. You’ll especially notice it once you need the Sonic Resonator, since you won’t get far without it. Luckily, there’s a solid early-game location where you can stock up. We’ll show you the exact spot.
The first location in the northeast
Right after starting the game, use your Lifepod as a reference point and swim northeast. Try to stay roughly around 60 degrees on your compass. After a little more than 200 meters, you’ll come across a noticeable water current.
At first glance, the whirlpool may seem more dangerous than useful. However, as we already explained in our tips guide, these water currents can actually help you move around much faster. Simply let yourself get pulled downward or carefully swim along the edge of the current. At the bottom, you’ll end up in a trench where the first Lead deposits can be found.
- Note: You’ll also find a desk in the trench with a Tadpole fragment next to it. Make sure to scan it if you haven’t unlocked it yet.
How to use small and large deposits
In this area, you’ll find two different types of Lead deposits. The smaller chunks can be picked up directly. They’re often lying on the seabed or attached to rock walls and can easily be missed if you’re moving too fast. Visually, they also look somewhat similar to Titanium.
The larger deposits are much easier to spot. These are the angular, bluish-purple formations sticking out of the ground. You won’t be able to mine them right away, though. For that, you’ll first need the Sonic Resonator. Ironically, the Sonic Resonator itself also requires Lead, which means you’ll have to rely on the smaller chunks at first. If you continue deeper into the trench, you’ll find even more Lead deposits. So make sure to explore the area further instead of returning to your base too early.
