Silent Hill Townfall CEG HQ: Security Code & Briefcase ⋆ S4G

Here’s how to open the Security area, solve the briefcase puzzle, and create the elevator access card at CEG Headquarters in Chapter 4 of Silent Hill: Townfall.

After opening the strange lock on Atlas Way in Chapter 4 of Silent Hill: Townfall, you’ll reach the “Inside CEG HQ” section. First, you need to open the Security area and then figure out which of the many briefcases in the main hall is the right one. My walkthrough shows you the Security code, Richard’s briefcase, and how to get the elevator access card.

Open the Security Area: How to Find the Code

Once you enter CEG Headquarters, you’ll immediately notice the large number of chairs with numbered briefcases in the main hall. Before you can fully solve this puzzle, however, you first need to get into the Security area.

Head to the Maintenance room to the right of the chairs. You’ll find two important clues there:

Inside the trash can is the first half of the Case Codes grid. Make sure to pick it up – you’ll need the grid later for the briefcases.
Next, examine the whiteboard. You’ll see a 4 and several directional arrows. The drawing represents a path across the keypad on the Security door.

Start at 4 and follow the indicated directions across the keypad. This gives you the combination: 4895. Enter the code on the keypad to open the Security area.

Find the Second Half of the Case Codes Grid

Search the Security office first. Inside the trash can, you’ll find the second half of the Case Codes grid. Put both halves together to get the complete grid you need for the numbered briefcases in the main hall.

Also check the two computers in the Security office. The computer on the right provides additional clues. The computer on the left gives you access to the personnel database and later allows you to create an access card. First, however, you need the correct person’s employee ID – and that’s hidden inside one of the briefcases.

Which Briefcase Do You Need to Open?

Return to the main hall and examine the lectern. There, you’ll find a list of partially redacted names and their corresponding briefcase numbers. The important entry is Richard. His assigned number is 36, so you’re looking for Briefcase 36.

Important: Don’t open the briefcases in the main hall at random. Several of the wrong ones will injure Simon.

Where Is Briefcase 36?

Briefcase 36 is located in the third row from the front, on the third chair from the right. The number 36 alone doesn’t tell you the combination for the lock, though. For that, you need the completed Case Codes grid from the Maintenance room and Security office.

Match the position of Briefcase 36 to the completed grid. The corresponding combination is: 486. Enter it on the lock of Briefcase 36.

Find Richard’s Employee ID

Inside the open briefcase, you’ll find Richard’s personnel file. It contains his employee ID: 00007820518. Return to the Security office and use the computer on the left. Enter Richard’s complete employee ID, including the leading zeros. You can then create an elevator access card.

Activate the Elevator and Continue the Chapter

Take the access card to the elevator and use it to activate the controls. Then select the 10th Floor. You’ve now completed the CEG Headquarters puzzle and can continue the story.
