Silent Hill: Townfall brings first-person horror to the series. Here’s everything you need to know about the preload, launch times, download size, and PC system requirements.
With Silent Hill: Townfall, developer Screen Burn Interactive takes the horror series into first-person for the first time. Playing as Simon Ordell, you explore the fog-shrouded Scottish island of St. Amelia in 1996, using a portable analog television – the CRTV – to detect threats, solve puzzles, and uncover a dark past. I’ve rounded up all the key details you need to know ahead of launch.
When Does the Silent Hill: Townfall Preload Start?
Preload dates have already appeared in the PlayStation Store backend for PS5. When you can start downloading depends on which edition you bought. Preloading for the Digital Deluxe Edition began on September 20, 2026. If you bought the Standard Edition, you can start downloading on September 22, 2026. There is currently no confirmed preload date for the PC version on Steam or the Epic Games Store.

Download Size: How Much Storage Space Does Townfall Need?
The PS5 version is listed with a download size of around 51 GB. On PC, Steam recommends having 75 GB of free storage space. A day-one patch could increase the required space slightly on both platforms. My review build takes up 73.51 GB on the drive.

What Time Does Silent Hill: Townfall Unlock?
Konami has set different unlock times for PS5 and PC. In Germany, the console version becomes available earlier than the PC version because the PC release unlocks simultaneously worldwide.
- For the Standard Edition on September 24: On PS5, you can start playing in Germany at midnight (12:00 a.m. CEST). On Steam and Epic, you’ll have to wait until 6:00 a.m. CEST. In the US, the PS5 version launches at midnight EDT, or 9:00 p.m. PDT the previous evening, while the PC version unlocks at that same time.
- If you preordered the Digital Deluxe Edition, you get 48 hours of early access. The early-access launch follows the same schedule, just two days earlier: PS5 in Germany from midnight on September 22, and PC from 6:00 a.m. CEST that same day.
Silent Hill: Townfall – PC System Requirements
The PC version demands fairly powerful hardware. With the minimum configuration, Screen Burn is targeting 1080p at 30 FPS on low settings. The recommended specs target 4K at 30 FPS on high settings – though with DLSS, FSR, or TSR set to Balanced mode. There is currently no official recommendation for 4K at 60 FPS.
- Minimum requirements: Windows 11 (64-bit), AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or Intel Core i7-8700K, 16 GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super or AMD Radeon RX 6600, DirectX 12, 75 GB of storage space.
- Recommended requirements: Windows 11 (64-bit), AMD Ryzen 7 5700X or Intel Core i7-9700K, 32 GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT, DirectX 12, 75 GB of storage space.
On my system (GeForce RTX 4080 Super, AMD Ryzen 9, 64 GB RAM), Townfall didn’t always run perfectly at the highest settings. For example, I had to lower the fog detail settings slightly to eliminate minor stuttering.
PS5 Pro Enhanced and DualSense Features
Townfall is labeled “PS5 Pro Enhanced” on the PlayStation Store. Both PS5 models offer a Quality mode at 30 FPS and a Performance mode at 60 FPS, with ray tracing used for lighting, fog, and flashlight effects in both modes. PS5 Pro also uses an improved version of PSSR for higher perceived image quality. There is no exclusive 120 FPS mode.
Regardless of which console model you use, Townfall supports 3D Audio, haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and motion controls – including for aiming and fine-tuning the CRTV. Motion controls can be disabled in the settings.
