Chapter 4 of Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy throws several tricky puzzles and deadly traps at you. Our walkthrough shows you every symbol, light path, and safe route.
Chapter 4, “From hell it rose,” significantly ramps up the puzzle difficulty in Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. With the new Light Revelation ability, you’ll need to uncover hidden symbols, reflect beams of light correctly, and find a safe path through deadly spike traps. In this walkthrough, we’ll guide you step by step through every puzzle in the chapter, including the correct symbol combinations and the walkthrough for the large bull-head puzzle.
First puzzle: How to open the door with Light Revelation
Hold R1/RB so the Sphere reflects the light in the room. This reveals glowing lines on the floor. They only appear within a small radius around the Sphere, though, so you’ll need to follow them.
As you do, you’ll see that a line runs from each pedestal to the wall and ends at a symbol. To open the gate, place the Sphere in each pedestal and turn the wheel to the corresponding symbol.
Here’s the correct combination:
- Left pedestal: Y
- Middle pedestal: C
- Right pedestal: A
The screenshot below shows exactly which symbol you need to select on each pedestal:
Second puzzle: How to open the second gate with light reflection
When you enter the hall, head left first and go up the stairs. Step onto the pressure plate to activate the light below. You need to reflect the beam in a zigzag pattern around the stone tablets hanging from the ceiling. Here’s what to do:
- Turn the first reflector on the left so it shines onto the reflector directly across from it on the right.
- Turn the first reflector on the right so it shines onto the second reflector on the left.
- Leave the second reflector on the left as it is. It’s already shining onto the second reflector on the right.
- Now turn the second reflector on the right so it shines onto the circular symbol on the door.
Third puzzle: How to open the door with Light Revelation
Hold R1/RB again so the Sphere reflects the light in the room and reveals the glowing lines on the floor. Once again, the lines lead to the symbols you need to select on the corresponding pedestals with the Sphere. This time, however, they run through a maze, making the puzzle a little trickier.
Here’s the correct combination:
- Left pedestal: Circle with four diagonal lines pointing upward
- Right pedestal: Vertical line with two horizontal lines, similar to an F

Fourth puzzle: How to get past the spike traps
After Sophia nearly falls into an abyss during a vision on the Trial’s path through the darkness, you’ll reach a trap. Step on the wrong floor tiles and spikes shoot up from the ground, killing you instantly.
Activate Light Revelation (R1/RB) and you’ll see four symbols on the walls to your left and right.
At the first trap, one of these symbols also appears on the three floor tiles on the far left – those are the safe tiles!
At the second trap, several of the wall symbols also appear on the floor tiles. The safe tiles are the scales, sword, and mirror. So move across the two tiles on the far right, then diagonally to the left.
At the third trap, spikes shoot out from the walls on the left and right. To disable the mechanism, you need to insert the Sphere into one of the six holes in the wall – choose the wrong one and Sophia dies instantly.
Once again, activating Light Revelation reveals symbols above the holes. The answer can be found in the book, which shows four safe symbols. The only one that appears in this puzzle is the scales. So insert the Sphere into the third hole on the left.
Fifth puzzle: How to open the second gate with light reflection
Run down the stairs, stay to the left, and help Leni climb up to the lens. She’ll direct the light toward Sophia, allowing you to activate Light Revelation (R1/RB). Use it to find the glowing line on the floor tiles again. It will guide you safely across the traps.
- Watch out: In some places, tablets hanging from the wall block Leni’s light. The Sphere will still let you see a few floor tiles ahead. If that happens, take another step back and memorize where the line continues until you can activate Light Revelation again.
Sixth puzzle: How to solve the bull-head symbol puzzle
Look at the floor and you’ll see a blue line running through the mosaics. Follow it and Sophia will notice that it outlines four symbols.
On the walls behind the three lenses (light reflectors), you’ll also see symbols on five red tablets, each with a golden emblem above it.
Some of the tablets are blank. Sophia’s drawing, however, shows every symbol. Compare the two and you’ll be able to work out which symbol each blank tablet represents.
To activate the mechanism, you’ll need to move the three lenses in three steps so they cast their light onto the correct tablets.
To make things easier, I’ve numbered the lenses. Check the following screenshot:
Step 1: Look at Sophia’s drawing in the book and move lens No. 1 and lens No. 3 onto the lower pair of symbols (T and umbrella). A large stone hand will lower into place.
Step 2: Use lens No. 1 to shine light onto the tablets behind lens No. 3. The middle tablet (triangle) is the correct one. Then use lens No. 3 to shine light onto the tablets behind lens No. 1. Here, the second tablet from the right (blank) is the correct choice. Once you’ve positioned the lenses correctly, the bull’s second hand will appear.
Step 3: Go to the bull’s hands and illuminate its rings with Light Revelation (R1/RB). Sophia will once again record the symbols that appear in her notebook.
Both symbols are behind lens No. 3. First, aim lens No. 1 at the second tablet from the right (blank). Then aim lens No. 3 at lens No. 2, which hasn’t received any light yet. Use lens No. 2 to illuminate the tablet on the far left.
