With Pragmata, Capcom sends you on a sci-fi adventure on the moon that combines action, strategy, and an emotional story centered around Hugh and the young android Diana. As fascinating as this futuristic world is, it also demands a lot from you in terms of gameplay. Between combat, hacking sequences, and hidden areas, you’ll need to play smart to get the most out of both characters. To help you get started, we’ve compiled the most important beginner tips.
Target weak points precisely
In Pragmata, precision determines victory or defeat. During combat, always pay attention to your enemies’ weak points. When you hit them, they glow orange, a clear sign that you’re dealing significantly more damage.
Weak points are often located on the head, arms, or back near specific armor elements. If your enemy has cannons attached to its armor, you can assume these are weak points.
If you want to end fights as quickly as possible, you should also use the Glue Gun. It allows you to mark enemies and reduce so-called nodes in your hacking matrix. This enables Diana to hack faster while Hugh can deal massive damage in a short time. Especially against stronger enemies, this saves valuable time and resources.
Use the firmware updater wisely
The Firmware Updater is one of the most important systems in the game. Here you improve Hugh’s suit, your weapons, and Diana’s hacking skills. A common mistake is investing all points into a single upgrade. This may work in the first two sectors, but from Sector 03 onward, the difficulty increases significantly. Enemies with powerful laser attacks and higher damage output won’t forgive a one-sided build.
Instead, aim for a balanced development between defense, offense, and support. This keeps you flexible and helps you survive longer encounters. If you prefer focusing on damage, you can invest primarily in weapons, but you should then rely even more on dodging.
Don’t ignore simulations in the safe room
Even though you’ll naturally experience many combat situations and platforming sections in the game world, you shouldn’t skip the simulation units in the safe room. Here, you train under time pressure, improve your hacking skills, and earn additional rewards such as Pures Lunum and Coins. You can also unlock trophies for completing individual and all simulations.
If you’re still unsure about hacking, use these simulations specifically for practice. You can make mistakes without pressure and benefit from extra resources at the same time.
Talk to Diana after every mission
After completing missions, you return to the safe room, where Diana will often be waiting for you with an exclamation mark above her head. These dialogues are optional but worthwhile. You’ll occasionally receive goodies, unlock trophies, and deepen the relationship between Hugh and Diana.
If you’ve collected gifts, you can present them to her. They will then be placed in the safe room. Especially important: While returning from Sector 03 to the safe room, Diana will challenge you to a game of hide-and-seek. Be sure to accept this challenge and win if you want to secure another trophy.
Revisit earlier areas
Pragmata encourages you to revisit areas multiple times. Many rooms are initially blocked by Filament Masses (Guide). Once you gain the ability to remove them later in the game, you should return especially to Sector 01. Additional items, collectibles, and valuable resources await you there. You can check at any time in the menu which collectibles you are still missing.
Even if you’re not aiming for the platinum trophy, collecting is still worthwhile. REM gifts, for example, grant you Cabin Coins for Diana, which you can redeem in the safe room. In addition to mini cabin figures, you can also obtain modules and Read Earth Memory.
Enter the lunar transit terminal well prepared
Before starting a mission, you’ll enter the lunar transit terminal. Here, you select weapons, equipment, hacking nodes, and modules. Never start unprepared. Fully restock your equipment before heading into the next sector. From Sector 03 onward, you can also equip two additional weapons and switch between them during combat.
Focus on a mix of high damage output and tactical options. The Stasis Net is particularly effective. It temporarily immobilizes enemies and gives you valuable seconds to recover. At the unit printer in the safe room, you can even increase the net’s radius.
Red zones: Risky arenas with valuable loot
In Pragmata, you’ll repeatedly encounter so-called Red Zones, which can only be opened with a red master key. Behind these locked areas, multiple waves of enemies await, with intensity varying depending on the sector. Early on, you should start with the Red Zone in Sector 01 and gradually work your way up. With each new section, the difficulty noticeably increases, making preparation especially important.
At the end of these encounters, you’ll be rewarded with high-quality loot such as Pures Lunum or rare modules. Before entering a Red Zone, make sure your ammunition is fully stocked. While you’ll often find ammo inside these areas, larger enemy waves rarely give you a safe opportunity to collect it immediately. After completing a Red Zone, return to your cabin in the safe room. New bingo fields will be revealed there upon completion.
