In Chapter 5 of Gothic 1 Remake, Ur-Nazkrog demands that you perform an Orc ritual before you’re allowed to enter the Temple of the Sleeper. Here’s how to complete the “Warrior’s Honor” quest in Chapter 5.

Once you arrive at the Orc Camp, or Orc Enclave, in Chapter 5, the Orcs will let you move around freely thanks to the Ulu-Mulu. Access to the Temple of the Sleeper, however, is still off-limits. First, you’ll need to complete the “Warrior’s Honor” quest, which gives you a closer look at Orc culture in Gothic 1 Remake. Without the right conversations and one specific item, though, you won’t get far. This guide walks you through the quest.

Find Ur-Nazkrog and Start “A Warrior’s Honor” in Gothic 1 Remkae

Before you get started, make sure to turn on subtitles. Many conversations in this chapter are in Orcish. If subtitles are turned off, you won’t understand a word.

To trigger the “A Warrior’s Honor” quest, speak with Ur-Nazkrog. You’ll find the shaman in her dwelling with the large skull to the left of the temple entrance. The grumpy Orc Krashok stands guard outside.

  • Note: I’ll show you where to find the slick armor I’m wearing in the screenshots in this guide.

Tell him Ur-Nazkrog wants to see you, and he’ll let you through. Ur-Nazkrog speaks of a vision and gives you the cryptic task of “shaping life from death.” She doesn’t reveal anything else.

Speak with Ur-Shak

Instead of wandering through the caves aimlessly, go straight to Ur-Shak. He’s standing outside the entrance to the Temple of the Sleeper and is the only one who clearly explains what this is actually about: an Orc burial ritual for Grazkrak, the Orc warrior you previously killed in a duel.

Make sure you talk to Ur-Shak before performing the ritual. Players in the community have reported that they could no longer speak to Ur-Nazkrog after the ritual because they skipped this step.

How to enter the burial chamber

Return to the fighting ground where you defeated Grazkrak, then go through the stone gates into the lower area. On the level with the blood-red water basin, you’ll find Umosh, who is guarding Grazkrak’s body. He’ll turn you away during your first conversation because you’re still missing one crucial item.

  • Note: If you enter this area before speaking with the shaman, Umosh won’t be there and the burial site will be empty. You can still complete the next step, though.

Collect Orc Spores from the arena

Walk past Umosh and continue down toward the arena. Several dead Orcs are lying there, and you’ll need to search them. They give you the Orc Spores, which are required for the ritual and without which Umosh won’t let you take another step.

  • Optional, but important: Make sure to speak with Chokta in the arena. Across several training fights, he’ll teach you how to wield Orc weapons.

Convince Umosh and complete the ritual in “A Warrior’s Honor”

With the Orc Spores in your inventory, return to Umosh. A new dialogue option will now appear: Tell him you want to transform Grazkrak’s dead flesh into new life according to Orc custom. He’ll then clear the way to the burial chamber.

Inside, you’ll find the altar with Grazkrak’s body. Interact with it, scatter the spores, and perform the ritual. Take a quick look around first, though: A chest opposite the entrance to the burial chamber contains an Amulet of Strength. It’s worth grabbing, since the fights in Chapter 5 ramp up considerably.

Report back to the shaman and tell her about your success. The quest will be completed, you’ll earn 700 experience points, and your progress in the main quest “The Chosen Path” will move one step forward. That brings you another step closer to the Temple of the Sleeper.
