Gothic 1 Remake offers very few landmarks. To help you quickly look up the most important locations, we’ve put together an interactive map for you.
In Gothic 1 Remake, you start without a map and without clear directions. Even after you swindle the first map from Graham in the Old Camp, you still have to figure out where the key locations actually are. The markers you can use do not provide much information either. Especially early on, getting your bearings can be tough. With our map, you can quickly and easily look up the most important locations.

How to Get Your Bearings in Gothic 1 Remake
Because the game gives you very few tools, you have to actively memorize the world around you. Pay attention to natural landmarks such as lakes, bridges, ravines, or striking buildings. Paths are often logically laid out, even if they seem chaotic at first glance.
The Exchange Place is your starting area. This is where you are thrown into the Colony and immediately experience the first major scene with Diego and Bullit. Just a few steps farther on, around the Abandoned Mine, you can also find your first weapon, some ore, and a pickaxe.
The three camps serve as fixed reference points in the Valley of Mines. Once you know where the Old Camp, New Camp, and Swamp Camp are located, you can roughly place almost every other location. Everything else falls into place over time through exploration and repeated trips through the same areas.
The Old Camp
The Old Camp is usually your first major destination and is located fairly centrally. Pay particular attention to the two gates, the market area, and Gomez’s castle. The marketplace is your central hub for merchants, contacts, and early quests. The arena is easy to find and also serves as a useful landmark. Access to the castle is tightly controlled and tied to several tasks, so you cannot simply walk in.
- In our guide, we show you how to get accepted into the Old Camp and gain access to Gomez.

The New Camp
To the west lies the New Camp, recognizable by its large lake. Once you see water, you are in the right region. The rice fields and the dam also help you get your bearings. Inside, you will find a large cave that serves as the camp’s headquarters. If you speak to Mordrag in the Old Camp, he will safely lead you there. The path to the Free Mine is also important, and you should memorize it early on.

The Swamp Camp
The Swamp Camp in the southern part of the map feels very different. Here, you move across wooden walkways through a dangerous swamp. The entrance is guarded by Templars, and Lester is an important contact there. You can also be escorted to the Sect Camp if you speak to Baal Parvez in the Old Camp. Inside the camp, Cor Kalom’s lab, the temple area, and the training grounds are key reference points.
