The Demon Bow is one of the strongest ranged weapons in the remake. I’ll show you where it’s hidden, how good it is, and why bow builds should not pass it up.
To find the powerful Demon Bow in Gothic 1 Remake, you first need to reach the Sleeper Temple in Chapter 5 and make it all the way to the end. In my walkthrough for the quest “The Dreamer’s Nightmare”, I guide you safely through the massive dungeon.
Why the Demon Bow Is So Important
The Demon Bow is the second-strongest bow in the game. Only the Bow of Death hits harder, dealing 88 damage while requiring 73 Dexterity. Below it sits the Storm Bow, with 82 damage and a 67 Dexterity requirement. That puts the Demon Bow very comfortably in second place.
The stats at a glance:
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Weapon type | Bow |
| Damage | 85 |
| Damage type | Piercing |
| Requirement | 70 Dexterity |
In practice, though, something matters more than the raw number: There are only 3 damage points between the Demon Bow and the Bow of Death, but also a 3-point difference in the required Dexterity. If you already have 70 Dexterity, you can use the Demon Bow right away, while the Bow of Death still requires a few more trips to a trainer. For many runs, that makes the Demon Bow more than just a stopgap — it is simply the most important endgame weapon, because you can use it earlier and the damage difference is barely noticeable.
Who the Demon Bow Is Best For in Gothic 1 Remake
Bows are the fastest ranged option in the remake: they fire more quickly than crossbows, are more flexible when dealing with multiple enemies, and are ideal for pulling individual foes out of groups. If you are already investing in Dexterity and prefer handling fights from a distance instead of throwing yourself into every melee encounter, the Demon Bow is a weapon that can carry you perfectly through the endgame. Especially on higher difficulty settings, that makes a noticeable difference.
Pure Strength-based melee fighters can safely skip the detour — the learning points needed for 70 Dexterity will be missing elsewhere. The same goes for mages, who are usually better off spending their points on other skills. Still, picking it up does not hurt, since it is free and sells for a decent chunk of ore if you decide to part with it.
Where to Find the Demon Bow in the Sleeper Temple
You can only reach the Sleeper Temple late in the game, once the main quest sends you into orc territory and you have completed the “Warrior’s Honor” quest guide. Work your way through the Sleeper Temple, defeat the Demon Lords, take out the orc shaman Varrag Ruuushk, and grab the sword Uriziel.

Once you have fulfilled all the quest requirements, you would normally teleport back to Xardas. Before you do, however, take a quick detour.

At the Spectral Bridge that led you to Varrag Ruuushk, climb down the rock wall and follow the path downward toward the lava flow. Along the way, you will find the “Destroy Undead” scroll near a skull altar, with a few more items waiting at some workbenches a few meters farther on.

Then things get hot — literally. Jump across the rocks in the lava to the larger platform at the edge of the flow. There, behind a rock, you will find a petrified human figure holding the Demon Bow in its hands.
