Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced launches for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on July 9, 2026. Ubisoft Singapore has rebuilt the 2013 pirate adventure from the ground up in the Anvil engine — the same technology that powers Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Alongside the fully overhauled visuals, the remake includes more than six hours of new story content. That’s reason enough to get you up to speed with all the key details ahead of release.

When exactly does Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced unlock?

Black Flag Resynced preload: When can you download it?

Preload timing varies quite a bit by platform. Xbox owners have it best: the download has already been available there since June 22. On PS5, the preload is scheduled to begin on July 7, 2026, two days before release. PC players can also start downloading on July 7.

  • Xbox Series X/S: Available since June 22 at 2 p.m. UTC
  • PlayStation 5: From July 7 at 12 a.m. local time
  • PC (Ubisoft Connect, Steam, Epic Games): From July 7 at 2 p.m. UTC

How much storage space does the remake need?

The download sizes are surprisingly lean for a modern remake. On Xbox Series X|S, it comes in at around 64.1 GB, while the PS5 version is about 61.9 GB. The PC version via Ubisoft Connect is even smaller at just 51.5 GB.

That said: A day-one patch is very likely and could increase the total download size. These patches usually bring performance improvements across all platforms and fix various bugs or visual issues.

PC system requirements: Four tiers from 1080p to 4K

Ubisoft breaks down the PC requirements into an unusually detailed four-tier setup. The key thing to know upfront: an SSD is required, and you’ll need at least 65 GB of free storage space.

Minimum (1080p, 30 FPS, Low):

  • Operating system: Windows 10/11 (64-bit)
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-8700K / AMD Ryzen 5 3600
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM (dual-channel)
  • Graphics card: Nvidia GTX 1660 (6 GB) / AMD RX 5500 XT (8 GB) / Intel Arc A580 (8 GB)
  • Storage: 65 GB SSD

Recommended (1080p, 60 FPS, Medium):

  • Processor: Intel Core i5-10600K / AMD Ryzen 5 3600
  • Graphics card: Nvidia RTX 3060 (12 GB) / AMD RX 6600 XT (8 GB) / Intel Arc B580 (12 GB)

High (1440p, 60 FPS, High):

  • Processor: Intel Core i5-11600K / AMD Ryzen 5 5600K
  • Graphics card: Nvidia RTX 3080 (10 GB) / AMD RX 6800 XT (16 GB)

Extreme (4K, 60 FPS, Ultra):

  • Processor: Intel Core i7-12700K / AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D
  • Graphics card: Nvidia RTX 4090 (24 GB) / AMD RX 7900 XTX (24 GB)

A word of warning: GPUs with only 6 GB of VRAM are technically below the minimum requirements. Anyone playing on one of those cards should expect stuttering if the VRAM overflows. In that case, lowering texture resolution and reducing the render scale can help.

Ray tracing comes with three options: Off, Standard (global illumination only), and Extended (global illumination plus reflections). If you’re using an older GPU without hardware ray tracing, you’ll get a software-based option for better efficiency, though it still costs performance. When in doubt, just turn ray tracing off. The game also supports AMD FSR 4, Nvidia DLSS 4.5, and Intel XeSS 3, along with HDR and ultrawide resolutions. A built-in benchmark tool helps fine-tune your settings.

What performance can you expect on consoles?

PS5 and Xbox Series X each offer three graphics modes: Performance (60 FPS), Fidelity (30 FPS), and Balanced (40 FPS). The latter requires a 120 Hz display and an HDMI 2.1 cable, though. PS5 Pro stands out with Enhanced PSSR and Extended Ray Tracing across all modes. Xbox Series S has to make do with a single Fidelity mode at 30 FPS and 1620p upscaled — not exactly an ideal setup for owners of Microsoft’s smaller console.

Does Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced run on Steam Deck?

Yes, Ubisoft has confirmed that the Black Flag remake will be Steam Deck Verified at launch. So you’ll be able to set sail on the go, too.
