Looking for the best AION 2 settings? This guide shows you which combat, graphics, camera, HUD, and targeting options are worth changing, how to get more FPS, and what the most important keyboard shortcuts do.
In this guide, you’ll learn:
- which AION 2 settings you should change before your first quest
- which graphics options can improve FPS and performance
- how to optimize targeting, potions, buffs, and loot
- how to customize the camera, HUD, and combat visibility
- all the most important AION 2 keyboard shortcuts and keybinds at a glance
AION 2’s Settings menu is huge. There are eight main tabs with additional sub-tabs, and several options can noticeably change combat, visibility, and performance. I went through the entire menu during the Launch Scale Test, checked it again in the live client after release and tested the settings that matter most. Below you’ll find my recommended starting points, followed by every important option in detail.
The eight tabs are Combat, Key Settings, Info Display, Graphics, Accessibility, Audio, Notification, and Miscellaneous. Almost every page has a Reset button at the bottom that only restores the current page to its default values, so you can experiment without much risk. You can find all our other guides in our AION 2 guide hub with all tips and walkthroughs at a glance.
- Note: This guide reflects the state of the game on October 6, 2026. I originally wrote it with screenshots from the Launch Scale Test, then went through every menu again in the live client after release and added the differences.
Best AION 2 Settings at a Glance
If you only want the most important recommendations, start with these settings. They are based on the Launch Scale Test and the live client and are meant as a practical baseline rather than a one-size-fits-all preset.
Setting Recommended Starting Point Why Control Mode AION 2 Mode, then test both direct action-style camera control; switch with Minus Life Potion Auto Use 70% by default; lower if you want to conserve potions balances safety and resource use Buff Auto Use In Combat or Motion keeps buffs active automatically Upscaler DLSS or FSR, Quality or Balanced as a starting point one of the easiest ways to gain FPS Mass Combat Quality Lower first when performance drops reduces the load from many visible characters Player Particle Effect Display You and your party cuts visual clutter and helps performance Identical Player Appearance Enable for large-scale battles such as the Abyss reduces the cost of rendering many unique characters NVIDIA Reflex Boost if the option is available helps reduce input latency Camera Shake Off if it hurts visibility or comfort makes combat easier to read Display Boss Orientation Try enabled for dungeons helps you read boss positioning
Best AION 2 Combat Settings: Control Mode and Targeting
Under Combat > Controls, the first option is [PC] Control Mode. During the test, it was set to AION 2, which uses a reticle and lets you adjust its vertical position, set to 120 pixels by default. You can switch between control modes at any time with the minus key. Try both versions during your first evening before getting too used to one.
Below that, you decide how the game handles targets. Pursue Targets with Skill Activation and Auto Target Upon Skill Use were disabled during the test, while Set Main Target upon Attack was enabled. If you prefer aiming manually, leave it that way. If you want to miss fewer spells while questing, enable automatic target selection.

Under Target Scanning, you determine the order in which the Tab key selects targets. If you switch the Target Scanning Detailed Settings away from sorting by distance, you can freely arrange ten priority levels, ranging from targets you have already hit or aimed at and hostile players to regular monsters. The default order works well for leveling, but it’s worth taking another look at this setting for PvP in the Abyss.
Best Auto Use Settings: Potions and Buffs
Under Combat > Auto Use, you decide when the game assists you. AION 2 automatically uses Life Potions by default when you drop below 70 percent HP. That’s fairly early. Lower the threshold if you want to conserve potions, or leave it as is if you prefer playing it safe. You can also access automatic potion use while playing with the X key.
Below that are the Buff Auto-Use Conditions. During the test, they were set to In Combat or Motion. This lets your character automatically refresh buffs without you having to think about them.

Best Loot Settings in AION 2: Filter Item Pickup
Under Combat > Looting, you decide what your pickup key collects. For equipment, you can filter by rarity, from Common through Rare, Epic, Unique, and Legendary. For other loot types, you can choose whether to pick up potions, common consumables, Power Shards, and crafting materials.
Everything is enabled by default. Your Cube, AION 2’s inventory, had 60 slots during the test, and those fill up quickly while leveling. Common equipment still provides materials when dismantled, but it also clogs up your Cube. If you’re only going to dismantle that gear anyway, the filter can save you a lot of clicks.

Best AION 2 Graphics Settings for More FPS
Under Graphics > Optimize, you can adjust Display Mode, Resolution, Vertical Sync, and Refresh Rate. Ultrawide works: During the test, I played at 3440 x 1440 pixels and 165 Hz in Borderless Window mode. In the live client, Resolution, Vertical Sync and Refresh Rate are grayed out for me in Borderless Window mode, so you will probably have to switch the Display Mode first if you want to change them. Below that are UI Scale with five levels, the graphics presets and 13 individual quality settings with five levels each, ranging from Texture Quality to Anti-Aliasing.
These are the settings I would check first if you want to improve FPS in AION 2, especially in crowded cities, dungeons, and large-scale battles:
- Upscaler: You can choose between TAA, TSR, DLSS and FSR; Intel’s XeSS is missing. Resolution Scale adds five levels. I used Quality during the test and play on Balanced in the live client
- Frame Generator: can only be enabled when the upscaler is set to DLSS or FSR. With DLSS, you need an NVIDIA RTX 40-series GPU or newer. On Windows 11, it works immediately; on Windows 10, you need to enable the feature manually and restart your PC. In the live client, the menu offers several levels, and I use 3x with DLSS. According to NVIDIA, DLSS only generates more than one extra frame per rendered frame on RTX 50-series cards
- Mass Combat Quality: controls how many characters are displayed at the same time. In crowded cities and large battles, this is the first setting I would lower
- Player Particle Effect Display: was set to you and your party members. Effects from other players are hidden, which helps performance in large groups
- Identical Player Appearance: apparently only on certain maps such as the Abyss, all players except you, your party and your force are shown with a standardized appearance. You lose some visual variety, but it saves performance in large-scale battles
- NVIDIA Reflex: was set to Boost during the test and helps reduce input latency. In the live client, the option was grayed out for me while frame generation was running
- Cloud Quality: If it is set to Medium or lower, you can no longer adjust Volumetric Light Scattering. The game only mentions this in the tooltip
The Steam page recommends the Very Low preset for Full HD on the minimum hardware and the Low preset on the recommended hardware. If your PC is close to the minimum requirements, start low and raise the settings one by one.

If you play on a laptop with a GeForce RTX 5000-series GPU, keep the note in the upscaler tooltip in mind: Before enabling DLSS frame generation, disable G-SYNC in the NVIDIA Control Panel and enable vertical sync.

Best Camera Settings: Distance, Shake, and Teleport Effects
Under Graphics > Camera / Direction, you can choose between two camera perspectives and set the maximum camera distance in three steps, which I have set to Far, along with combat camera shake and separate horizontal and vertical camera movement speeds. If the amount of visual movement makes you uncomfortable, turn off camera shake. I couldn’t find a dedicated field-of-view (FOV) slider in the live client either, so camera distance is your best way to see more.
The same page contains two options I recommend changing:
- Teleport Effect Color: set to Bright for me. If the bright flashes during teleportation bother you, switch it to Dark
- Show World Map Transition Effects: I had this turned off, so the map opens without a transition animation
You can also decide whether Title Effects appear only on your own nameplate and whether your weapon remains visible outside combat.

Best HUD Settings in AION 2: Customize the Interface
HUD Edit lets you rearrange the interface to your liking. Party frames, the boss bar, minimap, quest list, chat, and quickslots can all be moved, and some elements such as the minimap, chat and quest tracker can also be resized. A grid and snapping function help you line everything up cleanly.
One particularly useful feature: There are six preset slots, and your layouts can be exported and imported. For example, you can create one layout for questing and another for group content.
HUD Edit is also where you’ll find UI Scale and Chat Font Size. In the live client, UI Scale is also available under Graphics > Optimize with five levels, and Chat Font Size under Accessibility > Communication. If the chat text is too small, increase it by one step.

Combat Visibility: Boss Orientation, Skill Range, and Notifications
Under Info Display > Combat, you can display the range of your skills and enemies’ aggro range, both with adjustable transparency. Display Boss Orientation is disabled by default and offers several levels. Try it during your first few dungeons. Under Info Display > General, you can also show your network status in the Performance section.
Under Notification, the game warns you when you’re hit or when your HP is low, with the default low-HP threshold set to 20 percent.
In the sub-tab for incoming requests, you decide who can invite you to parties and corps. Duel and friend requests can also be declined automatically there if they bother you while playing.
AION 2 Language, Voice, and Accessibility Settings
During the test, the interface was available in German, Korean, English, Japanese, and French. There is no German voice-over; you can choose between English, Korean, and Japanese. Both settings are found under Miscellaneous > Language. Steam lists eight supported languages for release, adding Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and Russian.
Miscellaneous > Account also contains Streamer Mode. It hides your account information and can show your character name only as “Player.” If you stream or share screenshots, at least hide your account information, otherwise your account ID is shown in plain text.
Under Accessibility, you’ll find color-blindness correction with adjustable intensity, White Point Reduction for light-sensitive players, and scrolling-text speed. There are also subtitles for cutscenes, while the Communication section lets you adjust the font size and color of each chat channel.
AION 2 Keybindings: All Keyboard Shortcuts
These are the most important default AION 2 keybindings from the test client, checked against the live client. Almost every action can be rebound under Key Settings, so treat this as a reference rather than a layout you have to keep.
Action Key Move W, A, S, D or Arrow Keys Sprint Shift Jump and Glide Space Fly V Ascend and Descend While Flying Ctrl+R and Ctrl+F Mount C Switch Target Tab Display Cursor Alt Switch Control Mode Minus Auto Potion Use X Auto-Navigate to Quest Alt+1 to Alt+9 Combat Analysis Ctrl+X Target Party Members 1 to 4 Ctrl+F2 to Ctrl+F5 Equipment Sets 1, 2, and 3 Insert, Home, and Page Up Consumables F1 to F8 Target Party Leader’s Target Ctrl+Tab Transformation Skills 1 to 4 Ctrl+1 to Ctrl+4 Activate/Deactivate Power Shard B Hide UI F10 Menu Key Map M Cube (Inventory) I Skills K Journal J Stat Info P Daevanion U Enhancement N Legion L Achievements Z Shop H Subscription G Pet Alt+X Wings Alt+C Titles Alt+T Closet Alt+O Arcana Alt+V Essence Extraction Alt+F Crafting Alt+G Substance Morph Alt+H Supply Requests Alt+J Transparent Map Alt+M
Expedition, Daily Dungeon, Nightmare, Transcendence, Ascension Trial, Shugo Festival, Abyss, Arena, the Market, Rankings, Mail and the friends list are among the menus without a default hotkey. If you open these windows frequently, assign them a key yourself under Key Settings > Menu.
Mouse Sensitivity, FPS Limit and Controller: What’s Missing
There are two settings I couldn’t find in the Launch Scale Test or in the live client: a dedicated mouse-sensitivity slider and a traditional frame-rate limiter. The closest thing to mouse sensitivity are the horizontal and vertical camera movement speed sliders under Graphics > Camera / Direction. Mine are set to 50, right in the middle. If the camera turns too fast for you, lower both values. Instead of an FPS cap, you only have Vertical Sync and the refresh rate.
I didn’t find a dedicated gamepad page in the menu either. According to NC, AION 2 is playable with a controller. Before release, NC had not yet confirmed full controller support.
My advice is simple: Spend ten minutes in the Settings menu before your first serious play session. Getting your targeting, graphics, camera, HUD, and keybinds right early makes AION 2 noticeably more comfortable to play. Have a great trip to Atreia!
