On the black market in 007 First Light, the “Jewel of Jahari” puzzle looks like a simple shell game — but it’s rigged. We’ll show you how to outsmart Aadan and win the ruby for Nirmala.
On Aleph’s black market in Chapter 4, James Bond has to obtain a red ruby for the vendor Nirmala: the so-called “Jewel of Jahari.” Sounds simple enough, since the stone is supposedly hidden under one of three cups in Aadan’s shell game. But the game is rigged. Here’s how to beat it.

Why you always lose the shell game
Once you talk to Aadan on the black market, you can place a bet and take part in his shell game. The red ruby is hidden under one of the three cups. Aadan then quickly shuffles them around.
The problem: The game isn’t fair. Even if you follow the correct cup, you’ll still end up with the wrong result. Aadan manipulates the game, so you don’t stand a chance by simply watching with the naked eye.
If you’re stuck here, it’s not because your reaction time is too slow — it’s because you need to use one of Bond’s gadgets.
The walkthrough for the shell game
To crack the puzzle, you need to use Bond’s Q-Lens, the X-ray scanner that lets you see through objects. Only with this feature can you actually spot the ruby under the correct cup.
Talk to Aadan in the black market area and start the shell game. After you place your bet, he immediately begins shuffling the cups. Don’t wait — press L1 (PlayStation) or LB (Xbox) right away to activate the Q-Lens.
Important: Activate X-ray vision before or while Aadan is shuffling the cups. Keep the button held down so the scan stays active.
With the Q-Lens activated, you can clearly see the red ruby through the cups. Once Aadan is finished, you’ll know exactly which cup is the right one. Now select the cup where you saw the ruby with the Q-Lens, and you’ll win the “Jewel of Jahari.”

Turn in the Jewel of Jahari to Nirmala
After winning the ruby, bring it back to Nirmala. As a reward, you’ll receive $30,000. That money is important for scraping together the required $100,000 for the auction.
Nirmala can also give you additional hints about ways to make money on the black market. Our tip: Head to the prize-fighting ring and take down a few fighters. It’s the most lucrative way to raise the cash you need for the auction in Aleph.
